Dixon/Ducre/Elliot or Eason/Davis/Bolden? On paper it is a pretty easy choice. Dixon and Ducre are proven SEC backs and Croom has shown that he will give them the ball plenty of times. However, Nutt's 10 years in the SEC has shown that he also loves to run the ball so carries won't be hard to come by in Oxford either. I think Ole Miss will have the better offensive line and more creative playcalling. However I think MSU obviously has more proven talent and depth at runningback. I am hoping that Snead will be better than Carrol and keep 8 men out of the box against us. I think MSU will win the rushing battle this year for the season but I think it will be closer than some might think. AD and Ducre should put up 1700+ between them.

Ole Miss had a 1000 yard rusher last year didn't they?

I'm thinking we'll have more yards on the ground just because our passing game won't be that great. I think Ole Miss will try to air it out more which may limit the touches to the RBs a little bit.

So I guess I'll say MSU will have more rushing yards but it won't be by a mile.

For all the reasons you stated.

RB's : Advantage Dawgs
OL: Advantage OM

Playcalling: Advantage OM
No. of touches for RB: Advantage Dawgs

Yeah until he gets broken in half. I guess my question is really which team will have the most rushing yards. I forgot about McCluster factoring into the mix if we do try to run the wild rebel thing. I'm not convined that that gimmick offense didn't solely work the last 2 years because of McFadden and Jones though.

McCluster probably won't be quite as durable as McFadden was in that role. Any idea if he'll be as good of a passer as McFadden was?

I think teamwise, we'll probably have more rushing yards than you will, but it'll be fairly close. I just don't think Eason is going to be the answer for y'all and the other two guys are promising (especially Davis), but they're true freshmen.

I agree. I think it'll be MSU, because you'll pound the ball more. Croom may say he's opening things up, but my guess is that means he'll show the occasional wrinkle and throw deep maybe once a game. He's going to stick to pounding it. We have a coach that loves to run as well, but I still think we'll throw it more.

Dixon should be a lot more explosive this year. And Ducre never fails at matching Dixon with some incredible runs of his own. Elliott if he can perform well when he is played at the beginning then he might be on board in that running back tandem. If injuries occur we are in for hell.
