Goodness, do we ever learn anything?

I expect us to be better defensively, only because it would be borderline impossible not to be. How much better, nobody knows. I suspect it will be an improvement from "atrocious" to "bad." We spent a lot of money on the roster last year, too. Those guys couldn't even line up pre-snap. Maybe Mac and Rhodes will have us lined up better but they won't be offering much more than that. It's quite a leap to have to convince yourself that adding two coaching retreads as analysts and a bunch of under the radar guys out of the portal is suddenly going to make this defense good. And we've still got a special teams coach running the defense, regardless of the retreads we've added.

We'll beat Southern. I can't get my head around the concept that there are people here who think we could lose that game. But we're looking 3-9/4-8 square in the eye. And this time next year, we'll all be saying the same things on both sides of the argument aGAIN.

I have been in attendance of two scrimmages hoss. That’s oh about 2 more than you. So yeah I have seen this team and what it looks like. And no I have no desire to rebuttal with your negativity. We are a different team in every aspect than we were last year. And yes those “re treads” have helped immensely

You don't know me. For all you know, you were talking to me at those scrimmages.

You do this every year. You've learned nothing about this defense working up against this offense in scrimmages, and you will learn nothing watching them against Southern.

Our defense was ahead of our offense (allegedly) in scrimmages last year too. Our offensive line has been a train wreck in the scrimmages so far so it stands to reason the defense might look better to you. Until we do it against real teams with real coaches and an actual pulse, I'd tap the brakes, junior. There's a reason you're catching pushback...you do this every year. Maybe one of them you'll finally get lucky. But it's probably not going to be this one.
