We need a big time MLB as a leader for the type of defense Diaz runs, and a guy like Johnson could be that guy that comes in next year and makes an impact. However, getting Brassell means a whole lot more than just getting a great WR. Him signing with us could change the dynamic of recruiting in the stateof MS for a long time. It would give us a pipeline to a school that has a lot of talent we don't usually get to see on our sidelines. Him committing to us and doing well here could really change the type of talent we can bring in. I'm going to go with Brassell for that reason.

We gotta find a WR that can take the top off the D. Bumpis is a good slot guy, but he's probably won't ever be able to open up the D like those 2 guys could - especially Brassell.

Brassell in the short - Johnson in long.

I dont think Johnson will be an every down player in 2011, just because of the mental info he's got to learn to process. Brassell on the other hand could start. </p>

Fast, great instincts, he takes the shortest route to the ball and arrives in a bad humor. I think he is going to be a force on special teams and factor into the LB rotation as a freshman.<div>

Morrow, Singleton, Brassell. For a couple of reasons. One, we hadn't been able to land these type skill players along with a capable QB (Russell, Favre, Prescott maybe?). Two, to take these guys from USP and Madison Central would be establishing dominance in this state for at least a few years - which is hard to do. Hard to keep the pendulum swinging for more than two years or so, see Ole Miss 2008 and Arrowdawg's near suicide to what we're doing right now.

In MD's defense the Middle Linebacker is where everything is funneled and who blitzes the most. He will be a anchor in the middle for four years. Huge get for us.<div>
</div><div>Brassell would be next. The whole South Panola Pipeline sounds good but as long as that school is located within an hour of Ole Misstheirwill never be a sure thing recruit from SP.</div><div>
</div><div>Sleeper: Dak Prescott. Get on that bandwagon now, it will fill up fast next year.</div>

Technically, it might have started w/Derek Pegues (aka Peh-GESS) but you're right on Brassel-it could be very big

Picking up Brassell signals a changing of the guard for the way we recruit on offense. Historically we have had trouble finding talent on offense, with the exception of the running back position. Like bonedaddy pointed out, it's going to be near about impossible to establish apipelineout of South Panola for geographical reasons. At least now, we know that we have a shot at getting some of these #1 caliber WRs.<div>
</div><div>C.J. Johnson is a great pickup... and MLB is one of the most crucial spots on defense, but we've had our share of decent linebackers over the years. I can't wait to see how Diaz uses this guy.</div>

I'm sitting here shaking my head in disbelief that there are at least a half dozen prospects listed in ONE F'N MSTATE RECRUITING CLASS being seriously discussed as immediate impact type guys. Think back to November 08 and tell me whether you could have imagined the turn around?

Merry Christmas Bulldog Fans.

...if we ever get to the point where we can redshirt these impact freshmen because we are deep enough to do so.

But I think Kendrick Market could end up being one of those guys in this class, especially since he's not regarded on the same level asBrassellor Johnson. After watching SP in the championship game last week, I have no doubt that this kid can contribute in a variety of ways for us. There's no WOW factor to him physically, but when you watch him, you see a guy that's a football player, makes play after play, and most importantly, he's a leader.

When I think back to the days of the 45-0 beatdown in Oxford to finish out the Croom error, I can't believe what has been accomplished in such a short timespan. Simply amazing work by our team, staff, AD, fans and administration. It's great to be a Bulldog right now.

Every time I've seen South Panola play, Kendrick Market has just impressed me. I think he's going to be a good player for us.

I think CJ and Dee both could make impacts next year. Someone will have to step up and play MLB, and I think CJ has a good shot to see solid PT there. Dee just looks ready to play. Good size, good frame, and could get in the OLB rotation next year. Then I think1 or 2of the big time WR's could get in the WR rotation next year. Dan loves to usea ton of WR's, and I think Brassell and Singleton (if he goes ahead and commits), could both have a chance at getting PT next year.

Dan would love to use 7 or 8 WR's. Bumphis, Clark, Heavens, Carr, Sandersand Smith will return.I think Singleton, Morrow, and Brassell could all come in and be better than Ricco, who didn't see much PT this year.

What position he'll end up at is a head scratcher for me. There's no denying his talent, but after seeing him in the state championship game last week, his future may lie on the defensive side of the ball. He just looked way too agressive and physical on defense for me to envision him as a WR , and hisframe looked like it could easily hold another 20-30lbs.

then it's a no brainer. Slay is going to take one side for certain. Could Brassell come in and start at the other CB? I don't know. From what I've heard, he's extremely athletic, which to me means he could possibly push Broomfield for the other spot.If we moved him to CB,I wouldexpect Brassellto see at least some time at CB next year. But whether or not he would start would be something we would have to wait and see.

We have the commitment. I just hopeFlorida, Miami, Penn State, etc.doesn't come over with a last-minute offer.
