I mean, if an NBA series goes six games, it's because someone is throwing games. How come in the middle of basically the lowest point of the steroid scandal era, no one is raising an eyebrow that a player is just coincidentally seemingly on pace to at least break the Maris record?

Those who believe Kobe intentionally loses games should have no problem believing pitchers are greasing easy ones right down the middle.

I don't believe either, for the record.

believing that pitcher grease pitches to certain batters. It's pretty ridiculous to think they would. Giving up home runs hurts their ERA, WHIP, etc. High ERA's hurt their bank account. I just don't see it happening. Baseball is all about stats. How good your stats are basically determines how much you're going to get paid.

But, just to make the HR derby more interesting, why not toss some nets up all the way down the base lines for fan safety, hand these guys aluminum bats, and let us witness baseballs being raped 550+ feet?

and they will easily drop games for cash?

It is a nice coincidence that he's doing it when it's needed. Kind of like earlier in the decade with mcguire bonds and sosa.

Pitchers won't intentionally pitch easy ones for hitters to knock out. There would be no point. Who wants to be the pitcher that pitches against a record breaking performance. Plus it will hurt their bottom line monetarily to give up earned runs.

Plus, with basketball, stats aren't relied upon so heavily, so basketball players can have a terrible outing and it not really effect what kind of contract they can get. Plus, as mentioned earlier, i think most ppl were talking about officiating in basketball, where there is proof of game-fixing.

because one bad game could put you in AAA depending on who you are. Plus, like you said, why would you cost yourself money so someone else could make more?
