Ignoring the #1 spot the conference will have a lot of parity in it.
Can't really judge Elkin and Starmount on how they will be vs each other because they didn't play each other on JV this year which is a shame, there didn't need to be split champions in the MVAC it sounds like one didn't want to lose; question is which one?
Elkin improved a lot from what games I watched on NFHS from when I seen their JV's in 2019; the offense was very good for them but that defense was their weakpoint in 2019. They won't be nowhere as good as this senior group was on the D side but I think they will be decent due to Pardue as their DC. If they were to lose him they will have a harder time. Elkin could have one of the best offenses in the fall due to that Robinson kid who will be a senior. Once he goes they will be very QB heavy in '22. Starmount I haven't seen much but I heard their team was good. Giving up only 8 points is impressive.. just wish they coulda found a way to play the Elks. Elkin did win the 2019 matchup but I see this one being a barn burner.. Starmount's middle program is looking much better they beat Forbush by 26 so it might be a return to somewhat of a form period for the Rams.
I do agree with Nc baller, East Wilkes will be a lot better the next two years. For their age those 10th graders played really hard and had some size to them. The youth and lack of experience showed but they didn't not try. They played Elkin really hard it's just hard to beat tons of seniors with 10th graders even if they are really good for their ages (trust me I know that well.) If they stay dedicated and lift, and get close as a team they could be really good. Offense will be key.. spread might not be what they need to run but I've seen it done with teams without 4.4/4.5 kids. I've doubted Wilmoth before and he's found ways to surprise me when he had talent. 2022 might be their return to form year.
North Stokes will be interesting; that group of kids who were so good as pee wees will be seniors this fall so they will be super ready for whatever they can do. If they get a really competitive non conference slate they could win quite a few in the fall. Numbers will make or break them because they need more kids to be able to hang with those powerhouses. Those kids are great but when they are wore out from having to do play all the time it effects a team severely. Honestly if they had put them in that league with Carver and co they could have done much better. Here they will be much lower than what those kids deserve.
South will be much better too if they can keep Dave and I believe they will. Carrick will be underratedidly one of the best athletes in the conference and will give teams a fit. ? is will he be QB or RB.. honestly in my opinion he's a better fit at QB. He reminds me a lot of Avery Smith when we ran the option out of the shotgun in 15/16.. They have such a big line.. just got to make sure numbers get better and they get healthy. That's the main thing that injury bug has got to go away. They will get some wins from their non conference slate but if they can rebound vs North Stokes and East Wilkes then they could do much better. I don't see them beating Elkin or Starmount though barring a freak turnaround for either one.
Alleghany I feel sorry for. They are way too be good to be off an 0 win season.. they have some really good lineman. If they can get the skill side down and if their HC can coach them up like how Johnson used to do Forbush in their lean years they can improve. With their size they could be a hell of ball control team and shock some folks if they don't come prepped.
