Who would our 5 sideline VIPs be?

I was out of town during the national championship game and missed all the pregame stuff. I recorded it and was just watching it and Samantha Ponder was talking about how each team got 5 VIP tickets to give out. FSU had Sanders and Ponder and so on. Auburn had Barkley and Jackson and so on.

I was thinking. Who would ours be? My limited attempt:

1. Fred Smoot
2. Rafael Palmero
3. Erick Dampier
4. Anthony Dixon
5. Tommy Kelly (this would be controversial)

Obviously some would have to turn it down due to games and such, but who have I left out? Other possibilities: John Grisham, Will the Thrill, Jackie Sherrill, Big Country Stewart, etc..

Unless Provine High School is in the National Championship, Tommy Kelly won't make it.

Not sure if serious. Stennis and Montgomery have shuffled off their respective mortal coils. The other three are legit ideas.

Dixon would be a close 6th, but I think this is the type of honor you don't give to recent players.
Bailey Howell is another, but Stricklin can stick his pop in law in a skybox.

Those 5 people are very involved in our program and actually CARE about it. Some of these VIPs on here, while are much bigger names, don't care as much as other people with the program

1) Palmeiro only gave ~$1m (only!) towards the complex. There were several others doners who paid more, but they weren't MLB All-Stars.

2) Palmeiro's loyalty lies with Ron Polk. That guy doesn't give two ***** about MSU. We were just another minor league stop for him.

So maybe we were stupid for naming it after Palmeiro, but I have trouble scratching up any real animosity towards anybody that gave a $1M to MSU.
