Any thoughts in why it’s coming out only just now? One would think that this would have been all over the boards months ago.
Have no idea but OSU probably didn't want to leak anything - and didn't even after he announced. But I do visit Eleven Warriors and they mentioned something like this a couple of months ago. Maybe one of their insiders close to the situation ? Have no idea who leaked all of it but it sounds like OSU knew a while back he was leaving.

Just keep the Prima Donnas away from PSU. Sounds like both Allar and Pribula are both level-headed kids.

If guaranteed starting, why not Texas Tech or TCU?

With the portal and his abilities, he could turn either around quickly, no?

Was over on the Texas Longhorn board and they're saying now that Ewers is saying that he'll be bring some top recruits with him wherever he goes. This kid just sounds like he thinks he's the center of the universe and everything revolves around him. He may be super talented, but no thanks

Whoever gets him can have him. Narcissism is not usually good in the locker room.
I know it will never happen, but it would be hilarious if all the big schools ignored him and he ended up at the equivalent of a directional Michigan team.

Is it me or does Ewers look like a dead ringer for Billy from Stranger Things?

Word is down here in Texas that UT boosters are putting together a large "endowment" that will pay all players $50-100k per year plus whatever they can negotiate on the side
I don't think this qualifies under NIL. there must be a service rendered to the organization. it cannot be pay to play or pay to sign.

Wouldn’t all you need to do would be an autograph signing session at some business on a Saturday in the spring?

Yeah, I also read that he didn't have any NIL deals through OSU which is why they didn't really put up any resistance when he left. He did get a truck which he returned to the dealer when he left OSU. The reported $1.3 million NIL deal he had when he entered OSU was with a NJ marketing firm which he carried with him to Texas when he left OSU. The boy wonder never threw a pass at OSU.

Now here's the kicker - according to that $1.3 million NIL deal - supposedly he needs to play-start in so many games by the end of his sophomore year. Now consider the source, but a TAMU board has reported that Ewers now has NIL deals totaling between $2.5 and 2.7 million - just unreal for a kid who has yet to throw his first college pass.

Like some of you have already mentioned, you can bet Sark was TOLD he has to start the boy wonder - no ifs, maybes, or buts

Check out the future HOF QBs who do State Farm commercials - they are in the $2.5-3M per year range. How can a HS QB who not that many people have really heard of garner similar value.

What I'm hearing is that he won't be coming to Happy Valley? Ok then.... i guess we'll muddle along with allar etc and see if that works out for us.

On a lighter note (lol) I'm curious how this kid will handle the pressure he's about to face at Texas. Without much prep time. He better be THEEE Real Deal or he's toast.

I doubt it.
Not so sure about that. A few coaches have already spoke out about NIL deals forcing their hands / choices - most notably Lane Kiffin.

I lived in Texas awhile back and I can honestly say that Texas football is taken way too seriously - it's like a cult following. Gonna be interesting to see how this plays out, especially if this kid starts out as a turnover machine to start the season.

After reading a few of the posts mentioning the kids NIL deals,
I guess you’re probably right wolf.
This situation may lead to Sark hitting the bottle again.

Yeah, I guess none of us will ever know the real reasons why some kids are picked over others (head scratchers) but I do know one thing for sure, this sure isn't the same CF world that I grew up with in the 60s and 70s. I realize that the kids deserve some monetary kick back, but some of this is beyond insane

Yes, and the details of the sausage-making are pretty much right there out in the open for everyone to see. People have limits on how much they’ll put up with.

Sark is on the class-A hot seat this fall. There’s little chance he selects Ewers to start in a pivotal year unless the kid is the best UT has right now.

Perhaps booster NIL dollars is a tie breaker, but no way would a coach with this much on the line blindly select a starting QB with that as the main factor.

Where this gets interesting is with Arch Manning. He no doubt wants to start as a true freshman like his uncles did. If Ewers does well, then that could complicate things.

Get your popcorn out. It should be a fun season in Austin.

Yeah, that Ewers - Manning stuff next year is going to be a sideshow in itself. Somebody is going to have hurt feelings
