C'mon, you didn't like the idea of Hood at PF (point forward), but you'll take Steele? He's awful when he has to dribble. I never saw Rodney look bad when he penetrated or brought the bull up court; he could be our best bet, and like I said before, he'd be impossible for opposing PG's to guard.DAWG61 said:I think Steele should practice his ball-handling from here till opening tip and we should give him a try at PG. He can shoot and he's strong, how bad could he be at PG?
...and whomever suggested Jaylen Steele play the PG doesn't know anything about either Jaylen or his skills or lack thereof. He is a catch and shoot 2 guard with limited mobility and poor ball handling skills. Further, his defense is no where close to where an SEC 2 guard should be.Coach34 said:Bost graduates
Deville likely done
Now Gray wants his release, hasnt gotten it, but ESPN is reporting he has it and Seton Hall is interested- meaning he and someone are doing some talking
Our hire needs to bring a PG with them
Early in the year, Rodney was much more active off the dribble, either driving to the lane or taking the dribble and pulling up for a mid-range shot; that element of his game was pretty much nonexistent later in the year, where, as you point out, he pretty much roamed the 3-point line. Perhaps a new coach, with a more offensive minded scheme can take our players skills, like Rodney, and utilize them in a more effective manner. I still don't know where you are getting that he isn't a strong ball handler? You hardly ever saw him turn the ball over with a bad pass, or a bad dribble (unlike Jalen), and he was our primary handler when teams tried to full-court press us. I can recall several games where his cross-over dribble broke about a dozen ankles, allowing him a wide-open look.DAWG61 said:You still have the matchup problems with him as a 2 instead of a 1. Hood plays as the 3 but he roamed the 3 point line the whole year like a SG. Maybe you are on to something because Hood doesn't seem to want to drive to the basket or bang down low for rebounds.

Josh Gray may or may not be on the squad. He has not been released! It all depends on the coach we hire. If he sticks with us, pencil him in at the point. If not, we probably sign another PG, maybe from Juco.
