I don't care if I'm in the minority or what. I kind of am. I could've done another year or two with Stans, but we obviously needed some movement. (For all his faults, I still really like the guy.)<div>
</div><div>People are mad because they haven't heard of him and that he hasn't been a head coach before. I'm fine with hiring assistants as long as they know what they're doing.</div><div>
</div><div>The big question mark will be if he can effectively recruit in MS. We will see.</div><div>
</div><div>I also think the people calling for Stans' head don't need to be bitching right now. Sorry- I don't know of any sport at MSU right now that is looked at as a "top-quality" job. Starkville's okay, but it's not as enticing as a lot of other places- we have to sell people on the community and support and SEC. You "needed" a new hire, and put relentless pressure on Stricklin to find one. He did, and put a ton of time into it. I doubt he just half-assed it. Now, the people that wanted this are going to be pissed at Strick if it doesn't pan out? Really? Strick is one of the best things we have going for us right now... might want to be a little forgiving with him and let him do things his way. I think he's proven numerous times he works hard and tries to do what he thinks is best for MSU... and I haven't seen a case where he's tried to half-*** anything.</div>

Who cares about that though? I'm gonna find out if he can coach and/or recruit within the next 3 years. And I'm excited as 17 about that.

If you aren't excited about the change, then you haven't paid attention to MSU basketball over the past several years or you are just stupid as 17.

Please, dude, put down the Abita.<div>
</div><div>But I tend to agree with a lot of the other stuff you said.</div>

Don't know how Rick Ray will do, but no one does. The people complaining were going to complain about no matter who we hired. Its obviously not Roy Williams, but that was never going to happen. We seem to have gotten a pretty good assistant coach, and that is much better than Kenny Payne.<div>
</div><div>This is a new chapter in MSU basketball and I just wish everyone would stand behind coach Ray. Its funny how some of you so-called fans will trash the program because your favorite candidate didn;t get hired. Im just glad Stricklin had the balls to choose his guy. He knows a whole lot more about all of this then you idiots. Either be a State fan or don't, but its pretty idiotic to bash the new coach without ever allowing him to coach.</div><div>
</div><div>I have faith in Scott, I've got no reason not to at this point.</div>

Been going to games for his entire career, just always enjoyed my dealings with him and liked how invested he was in the school. <div>
</div><div>2 was a bit far, and when it was announced he was gone I honestly agreed with it. I've been watching it go down for a while, both in games and just the overall attitudes of the kids. (The atmosphere's gotten worse too, but I'm not going to blame that all on Stans).</div><div>
</div><div>I'm a little biased, but even with that, it was time.</div><div>
</div><div>(Strawberry Abita's way overrated, but Maker's Mark Mint Julep is not at all.)</div>

It will be years before we know if the hire panned out. Yes, its a shot in the dark, but so was Stans when we hired him, and he won an SEC championship. Right now I'm just glad to have new blood in the program. That was an absolute must.

We have the chance with an unknown to change the culture of our program. I just hope like hell he talks about discipline and hard work (typical coach speech of course) as a key focus. I'll drink that koolaid a little because I want to so damn badly after the last couple of years of embarrassment with our team.

I am also excited to have NEW analysis during next season that doesn't involve constant back and forth about motion offense, lazy defense, and fat asses.

excited. This coach has exactly what we were looking for per other sources not our media release......great recruiter, hard nosed, players love him; disciplinarian, good X and Os, player developement, extremely sharp / smart and wanting to go somewhere where he couild do great things. Most of these commnents are from outsiders not the sunshine pumpers. This guyis as well qualified an assitant as we were going to find that met our criteria. Of course s a fan base we will try to kill any momoentum from this hire so we can kill recruiting then claim we made a bad hire. We need to get behind this guy.
