Who's going to Auburn?

As far as hanging out, it depends on what scene you like. As the game gets closer, I'll post my biennial review of Auburn eateries and nightlife.

there fans are alot like ours, they are as good as any in the SEC, you dont see the type of trash there that you see in baton rouge and oxford, and tuscaloosa to a large extent. Its been a while since we played a night game, two years ago I took a buddy of mine there to see his first SEC game, wasnt too impressive. Besides losing to us, it was 11:30 ko and they were booing tubby by noon.
Montgomery is about 30-45 minutes away. I would stay in Auburn. Montgomery pretty much sucks.</p>
If i was ever hip enough to tell you the cool places to hang out there, i am not anymore. There are plenty of bars downtown, so you probably can't go wrong there. I will be spending much of the day leading up to the game hanging out in a good brewpub downtown.
Tailgating there used to be great, but now its all liability-adverse suckage, so prepare to be disappointed if the last time you went to a game there was more than 10 years ago.</p>

Most of the time when I go from here to Starkville I go to Montgomery, then up 65 to Prattville, then 82 from there all the way (except for bypassing Tuscaloosa on the toll road). But when I come back I tend to go to Bham and then come down 280. I never, and I mean NEVER, go 65 to Birmingham then 20 to Tuscaloosa.
I think the reason I do this is that most times when I leave it is on a Friday, and I don't want to hit Bham anytime between 3 pm and 7 pm. It's also usually daylight, and 82 has a good bit of two lane from Centreville to Prattville that is easier to navigate in daylight hours. At night I prefer not to deal with that two lane and all its hills and curves, so I go to Bham and take 280, which is four lane all the way to Auburn.

Just be sure you get off at Prattville (Cobbs Ford Road) and don't take 82 all the way in to Montgomery. If it is going to be dark, I would go to Bham and take 280.

at the Knight's Inn, which is supposed to be nothing special, but serve the purpose for a group of guys going to an SEC football game.
Its a fun place. They have a Cheeburger Cheeburger, which is a good burger place, and Mellow Mushroom has good pizza. Some of the food at Toomer's Drugs is actually not bad. They have lots of bars.
However, the Motel 6, the Knight's Inn, the Super 8, the Quality Inn, and the Golden Cherry, yes, the Golden Cherry are not places I would advise anyone to stay. There may be more but for sure I would stay away from those.
There will be plenty of tickets for that game. Now, if you just HAVE to have a certain section or location, you might have to pay for it. But I would alsmost be willing to guarantee you that you can buy tickets for face or less at 5:00 on gameday if not in the days leading up to the game.
I think that is the name of the place. I hung out there last year before Auburn's opening game, and I thought it was alright, but then again (1) I like brewpubs and (2) it is a good place to drink decent beer with little kids in tow and not feel like a creep.

There were almost no rules, and Auburn fans, being generally decent people, made that a good thing instead of a pain. Now it I think it has to rank near the bottom in the SEC. MSU is much better.

Try your best to count the number of ugly brown bollards stuck in the ground around campus. You'll lose count. They have gone to such lengths to prevent a car from hopping the curb seven times a year that they have completely ruined the look of campus. Combine that with the atrocious decision to go to a pedestrian campus, and things have gone downhill quickly, and I don't just mean the tailgate scene.
