Im going, but like BvS, it is getting destroyed on Rotten Tomatoes. Too bad, I had high hopes for this.

I just went on the Rotten Tomato to check it out and it looks like it's Critic reviews. I think people are being too highbrow but it comes to comic book movies just go out and have fun! If I remember there was an actual comment about gratuitous violence and saying it was a negative for the movie...WTF! It's a super villain movie or anti-hero what do they expect!RollingLaugh

I was eager to go see it when the first sneak peaks and trailers came out. It always looked very edgy and darker than all the kids superhero movies they pump out. More importantly they would always say at the end, "this movie has not been rated". I hoped that meant it would be R rated, but knew it meant that the bean counters were figuring out how to make a few million dollars more by taking out what would make this movie great. I also was leery that Will Smith was in it. Dude is a total Hollywood diva, and gets scripts rewritten to make him look better. Not necessarily better for the movie. Sadly it turns out I was right. They went with PG-13, and all the critics say it sucks.

I have no idea why BvS got destroyed like it did. I and everyone I know really enjoyed it. The critics won't scare me away from this one

Agree. I think that movie never had a chance as soon as they cast Aflek (sp?), but in all honesty I thought he was great in it. I like a bunch of his stuff, not sure why he gets slammed so much.

No clue how the movie will be but I'll eventually check it out. Everything I'm seeing is it's not very good. Spends too much time on the characters and not on story. But Margot Robbie in that outfit is a win, so there's that.

People are stupid. Ben was fantastic as Batman. He has done some great work in the last several years both acting and directing.

BvS wasnt great, but it was unfairly criticized. Zack Snyder has a style that is loathed by critics. Probably should have been around a 60 on Rotten Tomatoes, not a 33 or whatever it got. I am disappointed that SS is getting such horrible reviews, but i am still looking forward to it.

I will, however, DC seems to have no overall plan at all. Seems like they are just scattershotting stuff, hoping it sticks. Everything seems fairly random with no endgame in mind.

Any movie that gets hyped so much (Suicide Squad, Batman vs. Superman, Ghostbusters 2) is bound to have hyperbolic negative effects in their ratings. None of this should be shocking.

On the contrary, lesser-hyped movies that are good are likely to receive inflated ratings as people who took the time to watch it actually care about the movie and will be more inclined to leave a positive review.

Now, here is a movie from this year that didn't have much hype (at least it didn't seem like much hype) that I absolutely loved and has pretty good ratings...

I really liked Everybody Wants Some. Not as good as Dazed, but still very funny. I watched BvS and I was among those that didn't really like it. It mostly bored me, and there were some really odd jumps in plot to make something work(I'm talking about Martha). They spent a bunch of time explaining to the audience that there was going to be a sequel with the Justice League too. Ironically, I have read that was one of the weird things about Suicide. They spent the first hour fleshing out a bunch of the characters so the audience had a reason to like them. The Avengers had them built in with other movies. I couldn't stand that movie either. Kids superhero movies bore me. The first Kickass was awesome. Deadpool was really good. Maybe some day, DC will make an ultra-violent over the top version of Lobo. I would like that.

I've been scanning more of the critic reviews again and there seems to be a recurring theme. I also liked Kickass but the PG 13 rating doesn't scare me either. I think the media is really trying to push the PC thinking with violenc and the anti guns theme in general.

I don't think the critics had much if anything bad to say about Batfleck himself, they had serious issues with editing, pacing and other technical flaws (and they all found the same issues, so when people PAID to analyze these things come to that kind of consensus, they may just be on to something, and it's certainly also OK to look past those and still enjoy yourself watching it). The reviews I've read about Suicide Squad didn't mention the violence being too much, if anything quite the opposite. They're saying there just isn't enough time to flesh out the whole Squad in this movie like the Marvel universe has done with their dozens of movies for nearly every character. Why DC fans are petitioning to shut down Rotten Tomatoes (which is merely an aggregator, every single negative review would still exist and be very easy to find with a 2-second google search) is beyond me.

BvS sucked. Long, boring, drawn out, unfocused POS movie. Not going to see SS @ the theater. Will wait for it to come out on video.

Seems like a weak summer for movies. Saw The Infiltrator and liked it, and I'm really anxious to see Hell or High Water. Other than that, not much out there that looks interesting to me.

Saw it and came away slightly disappointed. I felt like I had seen that movie a couple times already, I think they need to retire that series at this point.

Yeah. Me too. It was good, but not quite as good as I would have liked. Also, they left it open for yet another sequel.

But I enjoyed it more than The Secret Life of Pets, which I saw on Tuesday. Wife got to pick. I wanted to see it, but the best moments were the ones you saw in the trailer.

C'mon Red....joker was horrible and forced, enchantress was beyond dumb and everyone else just seemed crammed in. Randomness describes it.
Was listening to 1620 during their weekly movie preview segment. Josh (one of the co-hosts) mentioned that they essentially made two movies: one that was dark and one that was lighthearted based on recent reaction to the DC movies. What they ended up with was an amalgamation of the two that was difficult to follow and didn't make much sense. The critic (Kent Wolgamott from LJS) hadn't heard of that theory but said it sounds like it would hold water based on his viewing of the film.

I haven't seen it myself, that's just relaying what I've heard. It's Aug 5 Segment 10 in the link...

Trying to shut down a ratings service because it disagrees with the opinion of the mind-numbed comic-book movie crowd? LOL! Not much of a surprise that these goofs would try to do something like this.

I totally disagree. The Green Lantern was horribly edited and it had literally no rhyme or reason. The story was comic book quality yes. But the acting from the major players was good and the editing was good too. The bar scene was a little contrived since the world around them was coming apart by the seams. But that was really the only thing that seemed a little off or lost in the movie.
