which would be cool, but I wouldn't mind seeing Jerious Norwood either. Maybe Derek Pegues? Scott Westerfield?

Whoever it is, they need to crank up the MooTube. I can almost never hear them.

it's our attempt to rip off the Jumbotron Hotty Toddy. All season, a different MSU star of the past asks "Are you True Maroon", they show a highlight, and he says "I'm True Maroon, are you?" And it leads into the pregame highlight video.

new for this year?

The junction is functional, and a really good idea, so that makes sense to "copy". This feels a little more blatant. But if it works, whatever.

In reality, I'll be shocked if it's any one other than Jackie this week. I will say they have done a poor job of putting this together in connection with our opponent. The same goes for Great Moments in Bulldog Football. For the Bama game, they showed Wayne Madkin, and his highlight was the Snow Bowl. The Great Moment was the 1991 Egg Bowl.

We used John Bond a week after LSU, despite the fact he beat them 4 years in a row. Just something that bothers me, and isn't hard to correct.

and a portion of the proceeds from their sale go to the united way. So its pretty much just like Hotty Toddy but also helps charity.

I haven't been to Starkville since you started the Junction, but I'm sure has greatly enhanced the gameday experience on campus. Would've made the trip this year but family Thanksgiving deal fell on Saturday night.

....that they say the Junction is a rip-off without our own "fans" saying it. The Confederates did not invent tailgating. They are not the only school to have an area of campus named.

True Maroon is a good idea and is not a rip-off either. First, we don't put some random celebrity up on the video board. Second, the former athlete is not leading some gay cheer.

17! &*(^& on a stick! I guess next the fact Mississippi is in the name, Mississippi State University will be labeled a rip-off.

and I don't see anything wrong with trying to start your own tradition with the Junction. However, when you have the "Dog/Dawg Walk" through the Junction followed by a notable figure leading a cheer on your jumbotron, it doesn't look like your creating your own tradition, it looks like you're stealing it. I'm sure you will disagree with it being Egg Bowl week and all, and that's fine. That's ashamed too because State actually has unique traditions: cowbell, Bully buried on the 50, DPR, fans who actually cheer during sporting events, etc.

Cue the "we watched baseball from the outfield first" argument.

It is my opinion that fans of the Mississippi Rebels did invent modern tailgating. What they did at The Grove was envied and copied by every school in the conference and has since become a national trend.

That said, The Junction > The Grove. Its a fact. The Junction is just plain bigger. Short of knocking down buildings to make more green space The Grove is always going to be smaller than The Junction. So there...

True Maroon isn't a ripoff of some unattached celebrity leading Hotty Toddy. In fact, comparing the two is a microcasm of most comparisons that can be made between the two schools. Sporting events at MSU are more enriched in school spirit, while the same at Ole Miss has more of a status factor to it - cheering and generally giving a damn vs just being seen, etc.

So did yall steal your team walk from Auburn since they do the Tiger walk at every game....your argument doesnt support much...just about every school has a tailgating area, bama has the quad, you have the grassy knoll, we have the junction...alot of other schools have areas they use. Just like alot of other schools have someone that gets on the video board to try and get the home fans pumped up...and no you didnt invent tailgating you just use ideas from other schools to enhance your game day atmosphere and there is nothing wrong with that if it helps make your school better....

my gut just says it'll be someone from '99.

Have closed down many a stressful day at the office listening to Herbstreit's falsetto on that last TD pass, and Corso's complete dismissal of the pick moment with "now you gotta get ol' Scott WESSSSterfeel...on the feeel...right now". Slickdawg's Youtube videos are lifesavers sometimes.

(and the dawg. pound. rocks. uh-oh.)
