I expected there may be a domino effect of firings and expect FSU (unless things turn completely around) to be next. If you're in the market for a new coach, you have to actually be in the market asap.

I seem to recall he was a top choice of many to be an OC here while at Louisiana

No idea what will happen in Florida. But I'd say the odds are near 50/50, maybe better, that HCJF will have a new job lined up before PSU has their new coach signed.
My Gator friends (and boosters) would never entertain the thought of CJF in Gainesville. Never. Ever. I can't speak so much for Nole fans.

I would guess they are looking at what USF is doing with Alex Golesh as HC and thinking that might be their guy.

I'd be surprised if Stoops is brought back to UK.

My sons went to UF and I know many Gator fans. They are well aware of CJF's reputation and do not see him as a strong candidate to get them back to national prominence.

You don't get fired from a program that has expectations of grandeur and immediately get another head coaching job at another school that has expectations of grandeur. If Franklin wants to still be a head football coach, he's going to have to take a job in a lesser conference or a job at a lesser school in one of the two big conferences.

He could easily slide into a job where they have been down a few years but have had success in the past and want to get back to relevance. VT and UNC would be ideal because he already has recruiting in roads in those areas. The flip side is him taking a job at either would be a recruiting PIA for PSU’s new coach.

He should. That's good for both sides

Maybe...probably...but you never know
Wouldn't be shocked to see him go somewhere like FSU
I also kind of expect him to enjoy his millions and work on TV for a bit

Wouldn’t it be ironic if UCLA hired him?

I don’t think CJF will get a job with any program that thinks they should be competing for titles , so Auburn and Florida are out.

I actually think that Stanford is the perfect fit for him

Wasn't the rumor a few years back that Franklin met with Florida State near an airport in New York / New Jersey? It was part of the well honed Jimmy Sexton standing order to ALWAYS get James' name out there any time a higher level job came open.

My Gator friends are the opposite and would love it if Franklin went there.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if he takes a GM job at a school; he probably would excel in a job like that.
I had suggested to a friend that Kraft ask Franklin to become our GM after the Oregon loss. I do think that is a role well suited for him.
