Who's offense is this: Croom's or Woody's?

I see all the posts about firing Woody, but it is my understanding that Croom calls the offensive plays. This is what he did in the NFL and does anyone think he will simply give up playcalling to a new OC?

I just don't see what firing Woody does to change the offense?

Also, Croom is not running the West Coast offense, not even close. When MSU is in the Shotgun it is a spread type of offense, with option plays thrown in.

I never understood why they keep calling it a west coast offense when there is basically no similiarities between what MSU runs and teams like the Packers and 80s Niners used to run. West coast offense uses their TE, FB and HB in the passing game, something MSU has never done while Croom was there.

I think firing Woody is mainly to serve as a wake-up call to Croom that we're pissed and to stop messing around. I don't think he will give up playcalling at all- or not very willingly.

You're right about the WCO. I actually have a DVD of the 49ers SB XXIV win over the Broncos. (Joe Montana was my favorite football player growing up.) Our offense and the 49ers are nothing alike.

Here's what I don't understand about Croom and the WCO- clearly he wants to run it. That's fine. So, go talk to Bill Walsh (when alive), Sid Gillman, (when alive), and Don Coryell. At the very least talk to Mike Holmgren. Also, I would try to pick Mike Shanahan's brain about how they run the ball. Talk to Bobb McKittrick (when alive) about o-line play in the WCO. And the one guy that I would make sure I pay a visit to is Norm Chow. He runs a version that has been successful for college and I would definately want to see how he develps QB's, if I was Croom. I would be very interested to see if Croom has talked to ANY of these people, and I have a feeling that the answer is no.

Croom has tried to make the WCO a power running offense. The WCO is supposed to be a pass first to set up the run. This according to Bill Walsh himself. If you need one thing in the WCO, it's a good QB. What do we do? Go get a <17'n> deep snapper.

I think the *** covering is continuing. It's possible that they both may be doing it, I guess. We'll never know, unless we get rid of Woody and see if our trends continue.

I jsut dont see how 2 guys can be so incapable of putting together a performing group of players. Its so terrible witnessing the **** show they put on in front of the fans and having no answers that can satisfy us.

We are 1-2. Terrible. Crxxm promises we would see Elliott, Robinson. Those guys are nonexistant. He promises we will see flashes of offense. My eyes are bleeding from that last game. He promises we are moving forward. But we have taking a huge step backwards.</p>
