Supposedly launching Aug 21 at $29.99/mo.

As a long-time cord cutter, I'm definitely checking this out. Usually I subscribe to SlingTV for the basketball season. But since the main channels I use on that service are ESPN and it's various tiers (ESPN2, ESPNU, ACCN, etc.) the new ESPN service may suit me just as well . . . for less money.

Anybody else thinking of going this route?

Maybe not always as convenient - depending on how good you are at managing multiple streamers - but definitely better content for less money.

I can't afford - or, to be more accurate, I choose not to afford - to pay non-stop for all the good streaming services. Meaning I quit or pause some of the lesser services from time to time, then jump back on after a few months to binge the new stuff.

BTW, I strongly recommend signing up for the ad-free version of Peacock for a month every time the Olympics roll around. Which is this coming February (hosted by Italy). Peacock makes it pretty easy to find the stuff you really like, whenever you want to watch it. And ad-free is bliss.

Believe I saw where if you have a provider that carries ESPN you’ll have access to all of this content through the app anyways. Nothing new required

I presently buy some Disney thing (grandkids ) and ESPN and HULU come with it
I have no clue how this may fit in the new scheme ?
Now I also buy a higher tier of my basic cable package to get some ESPN and Bally etc
So I guess I pay ESPN twice /

That has been bandied about for years, but I don't think it'll ever happen. If it did I wouldn't be surprised if the offering entity made the total for your selected channels nearly as expensive as the full package.

I'm pretty good at it, but have been careless a couple of times over the years. That sounds like something a AI could do really well - as long as you feel safe giving it the account info it would need.

"Pause these and cancel those, and instead sign up for that."

Old folks like me with brains on the (hopefully slow) downhill slide could definitely benefit from that sort of function.

ESPN through SlingTV offers most of the games I want, but there are always a couple that slip through the cracks.

It's already looking like the ESPN package will have a little more than I previously got through Sling, but the details aren't clear yet.

For example, the Sling package includes ACCN and ACCNX, in addition to everything starting with ESPN, but not SECN. But the new ESPN thing is supposed to include SEC coverage.

I also heard that there may be some FOX sports stuff coming over. Same package or different? Same price or more $$?
