Why are so many people confident we roll Michigan?

I don't know much about them but I've been a State fan long enough to never over look any team.

What makes them so beatable?

Seriously though, my opinion is that there defense sucks, and Mullen and Manny have a month to prepare. </p>

We seem to do very well against teams that have a struggling D.
And we have a fairly solid D overall, probably enough to make the difference.

We have a great staff who WILLh ave our team prepared and ready to prove a point to the rest of the college football world. That point is what AlcoDog has already stated that we are 17in awesome.

the other UM with a better offense, better coach, and worse defense. I expect it to be a tough game.

I am a little nervous about this game. We seem to have issues keeping containment against QBs that are mobile (with the exception of Masoli). Then again, the SEC has proven over and over that Big Ten speed is not the same as SEC speed. I know Robinson is fast but,I do believe our LBs are possibly the best they've seen all year (as a whole). I do think that if we can get a few 3 and outs from them in a row that could be all she wrote for UM.

Their defense is weak(and that's an understatement), their qb would fit in Chris Relf's pocket and has been hurt a lot, they're considering firing their head coach, and they play in the Big 10.

if they can limit the turnovers. Michigan has the second best dual threat QB State will face this season. I think the key to victory will be protecting the football and winning the time of possession battle. Michigan's defense isn't so hot, so I think the Dogs will win a close battle. Must protect the football though. We were careless with the ball in the last two regular season games, and it cost us victory against Arkansas. Same thing could happen in the bowl game. Limit it to one turnover and the Dogs win.

Besides that, we played in a tough league, we have the ability to control the ball and score. Our defense is pretty good and Michigan's is not so good. Plus, what everyone else says.

having said that, what really concerns me is the down time between now and the game ... you're never quite sure which team will show up ready to play after a long break

i.e. a #2 Big 10 team vs. a #4 or #5 SEC team. This one is the SEC #5/6 vs. Big 10 4/5/6 thanks to the Outback slumming by picking Florida. Much more competitive for the SEC team.

Michigan is not the - Michigan of old.. One thing you can say about our schedule it prepared us for any team in the land. If we contain their QB we will Kick their *** bad. If we don't then it will be a 4th quarter roll call....

especiallywhen they only played 4 other SEC teams before then. During that time they were 2-2 which would make their overall record 7-3. Still pretty good but...really... stats don't mean anything going into the next season. Different team, different expectations. Only thing that they have in common is that they still expect to win.

1. Their coach is freaked the hell out he is getting fired. He keeps trying to convince their AD to tell him one way or the other. Nothing doing. There is serious tension surrounding him and the program that has absolutely nothing to do with this bowl game. Neither will even comment about that weird *** banquet they had last week.

2. They are Michigan. We are M-State (wait, you mean there is a different school than Ole Miss?) Nobody north of Kentucky gives us much street cred, but after investigation consider us to be a one-hit wonder due to a prolific and soon departing coach. We are up and excited about the game. They are pissed they didn't get a name school like, UT, UGA, or UF. Their staff and players are harping on how they wont worry about State until a week or so before. Instead they are going back to their fundamentals. This will be a mistake.

3. They are one of the few programs that don't tremble at the sound of "SEC." They have a great record against SEC schools. They are down, and even a usually strong SEC is up. These two teams are not typical representations of a Mich/SEC game.

4. They have a single player that holds the key to their team. Jack him up a few times, welcome him to smash-mouth football and things may get pretty fun.

..between our "glory year" of 1998 & the current year of 2010, Michigan has been to 10 bowls & Miss. State has been to 4. In that time span, Michigan has kicked SEC *** (in bowls) while MSU has floundered in mediocrity (in general).

If sixpackspeak.com does not think a program that has been to 39 bowls in its history does not pose a serious threat to a program that has been to 13 bowls in its history, then I would say your delusion is about par for the course when it comes to Miss. State messageboard foolishness.

All I'll ever say is history doesn't matter on the field. Every year a new team is formed. I do notice a lot of people that think this will be a cake walk, and to be honest I can understand why they might think so. However, they are a 7-5 team while we are 8-4. If you want to look at records, we're just a game better than they are. Statistically, we're the better team, but again, along with history, past statistics and records don't determine what team comes out on top after the 3+ hours they are on the field. With that being said however, I would seriously be surprised if we lost this game though.
