Why are there no decent MSU fan blogs?

I think the problem is that it's difficult for one fan to be interested in everything and write constantly about it. A Bulldog response to Red Solo Cup with several writers would be a nice addition to the blogosphere.

There are several people I know who are Bulldog supporters and very good writers: HD6, D@A, and his fellow cofounder of the RWHC are three of them.

Just from personal experience, I shut down my blog because I didn't feel good when I went a couple of days without posting something. And when I actually had time to post my thoughts about a game, it was 24-48 hours after the fact.

I had a little bit of MSU stuff, but nothing extraordinary.

board here and I would set up a sub-forum for each user. They would be able to do lead posts and everyone could reply. Bad or good idea?

You can also blog on your yuku profile.

is that there would be no way for someone to "personalize" the blog. I guess they could have a header pic, but what about a pic/video for each topic that can be seen without clicking on the subject line.

That seems like what OP4 did on the front page of Nafoom when they yuku-ed. It was really good at first but then people stopped posting and slowly died. I think the same thing would happen on SPS. Plus, I think all "discussion" should be in this forum. I think it would take away from the board a bit.

www.fanbase.com

Its in the early stages, so you have to request an invitation to join. It's all driven by fans. Upload photos, start discussions, write articles, etc...

It's alright, but there there hasn't been much updating to the MSU stuff recently. They sent me an invitation to my PM box on Gene's page, so some of you might have gotten one, too.

Bad idea. Too much noise.

I like the idea of a Red Solo Cup site - a blog by a handful of entertaining writers that are also MSU fans. thecowbell.com would be a good name, although that URL is taken by some kind of ebay bot which probably gets 0 traffic.

I am the owner of the Mississippi State Sports Blog. I inherited it from Travis a few years ago, moved it to a new domain, etc. Travis did have a new blog started, but it has been pulled offline for some time now. There are 2 pretty good basketball blogs out there as well.

I can speak from experience that it is tough to balance a full-time job, family, AND keep up a quality blog about anything - especially when it doesn't pay anything. Sure, I have ads, but they don't generate much.

This past football season was probably my most active with the guest blogger q/a posts and the SEC Power Poll voting - although I even missed the last 3 or 4 weeks on it. I focus mostly on Football because t is hard to cover sports like Basketball and Baseball that have so many games being played each week, where Football is one game per week.

I think if you could put together a group of devoted fans that could rotate posts, you would have something golden - similar to what EDSBS is doing.

not sure what the deal is with no update.

i really like the fact that he was breaking/updating the status of Rhodes and Gordon all thru the draft, summer, and early fall.
