I've yet to figure out what posting retarded ******** on a message board can accomplish (you'll have to ask Coach34 for the answer to that question I guess), but anyone who judges coach Ray at this point only does so based on an agenda. What exactly the agenda is depends on the poster, but there is no other answer to that question, because most of the actual posters (as opposed to those simply trolling) who continue to push these agendas know full damn well that coach Ray cannot be judged yet. Doesn't stop them because they feel that its more important to push the agenda that Stansbury is the man, or that the AD sucks, or that its simply not fair that their seat at the juicy jumbo table was disrupted, than it is to be rational and support their school.
Could the "agenda" be Miss State basketball? I am not pro-Stans or anti-Ray. All I know is a change in coaching
staffs (not just the head coach) was made and it has been downhill ever since. I understand there have been injuries, players not following rules, etc. that have made a big difference - but I still cannot believe anyone can think we are better off now (unless they have an "agenda" of hating Stans more than loving State). Here are some facts: everyone knows about our record # of SEC losses in a row and the record # of points getting beat in those losses, but did you know that our "point guard of the future" (and boy do we need a pg) just set the Big 12 Conf freshman scoring record by scoring 26 in a recent game? Yes, Josh Gray (who this
staff didn't want or couldn't get to stay committed) has started 25 games as a true freshman for Texas Tech with a line of most minutes played, 10 points/70%FT/3.3 assists/2.5 rebounds/2 steals a game. This
staff did get Ware/Flat Top/Sword to stay committed but couldn't get Hood to stay or Pollard or the Piney Woods senior to come. Last night, I talked to a longtime MS hs head basketball coach, who has no "agenda". He says that the word is that our
staff is not connected to the needed AAU coaches that will make them successful in recruiting and like it or not - that is what it takes to make it now. Maybe he is wrong, but it didn't sound good to me. I wasn't talking to him to get negative answers - just his opinion. (Just as a fyi to follow to see how good is his info - he said that Pollard as of now is going to leave AL.) Last comment - Even after my comments above, I realize that the past is past - we need to move on. I hope the present coaching staff can turn this around for the sake of State basketball. This season needs to come to a merciful end and hopefully it can get saved over the next few years. I will continue to buy my season tickets (and pay the Bulldog Club for the right to buy them), and I hope others will too - just have to wait and see about that after this season. I just hope the apathy that I see now doesn't set in too deep.
