Why can't Tennessee just buy a top coach?

With 107,000 in the stands and a huge budget, why can't they just start with $3-4 million, start at the top of the rankings and steal some successful coach from a smaller program or a succesful assistant from a big time program?

Seems like they are even way down OUR list from last year.

What about Chris Peterson at Boise State? Patterson from TCU? Harbaugh from Stanford? The coaches at Utah or Oregon? Wilson the OC from Oklahoma? Heck, Malzahn looks like a better choice than many they are talking to.

Secondly, a UT buddy of mine brought up a good point. People are pissed that Kiffin left, not neccessarily because he left for a better job that fits him better after a year, but because he left at such a horrible time in the middle of recruiting season.

Getting a head coach from another school is doing the same thing and most coaches in big time programs have a conscience. I bet they end up with an assistant somewhere.
