Why Cardinal fans are the best

I am on my annual Pilgrimage to St. Louis to watch the Cardinals play, and I must say that it has been refreshing to see some really good pitching- from Todd Wellemeyer no less, who saw that coming? Along with Lohse, Motte, who was filthy, McClellan and Perez.

But anyway, whenever I go to St. Louis, something happens at the games without fail.

I was not disappointed this year.

Fri.- A guy tried to start the wave five times, and failed five times. An usher finally came down and made the guy sit down. The entire section I was sitting in gave the usher a standing ovation.

Sat.- The girl sitting behind me. First of all, Pujols get called out on a bang bang play at second. This girl behind me yells at the umpire- "Tie goes to the runner *******!" That immediately earned my respect. She erased any doubt when she asked a guy, who turned out to be her father why he was nursing his beer. She then goes on to tell him- this is a sprint, not a marathon. Finally, she finds out that some kid behind her was having a birthday party. She then asks him if they showed his name on the scoreboard. After he said no, she got at least half of the section to sing happy birthday to this kid. If I wasn't from Mississippi and wanted to get into a long term relationship, I would consider marrying her.

Two thoughts: 1) I hate the wave. Thank you, usher. 2) Was she hot?

another thing about the players is this: they actually take the time to sign autographs for the kids. My 5 year old boy had several players come by, including Ryan Franklin, Motte, Skip "humaker, and Kyle McClellan. Some young gal (about 21) was trying to get Chris Duncan to come over yesterday, and she kept telling him, "I love you Chris". He wouldn't even look at her (he should have). When Chris didn't answer, she finally starting yelling "Hey Colby. Rasmus turned and shook his finger like "I'm not gonna be your seconds." These players have it made up here.

But not exactly a supermodel.

How does the song go about Midwestern girls? They keep their boyfriends warm at night.

usually at most MLB parks, you hardly ever see that. It might be because a lot of their players are young, though.

Still good to see for the kids nonetheless.

....I really wish I could've been there with you to yell at the *** that was trying to start the wave. You know I live for that particular confrontation. I thoroughly enjoyed shouting down the idiot at the Super Regional two years ago.
