I am on my annual Pilgrimage to St. Louis to watch the Cardinals play, and I must say that it has been refreshing to see some really good pitching- from Todd Wellemeyer no less, who saw that coming? Along with Lohse, Motte, who was filthy, McClellan and Perez.
But anyway, whenever I go to St. Louis, something happens at the games without fail.
I was not disappointed this year.
Fri.- A guy tried to start the wave five times, and failed five times. An usher finally came down and made the guy sit down. The entire section I was sitting in gave the usher a standing ovation.
Sat.- The girl sitting behind me. First of all, Pujols get called out on a bang bang play at second. This girl behind me yells at the umpire- "Tie goes to the runner *******!" That immediately earned my respect. She erased any doubt when she asked a guy, who turned out to be her father why he was nursing his beer. She then goes on to tell him- this is a sprint, not a marathon. Finally, she finds out that some kid behind her was having a birthday party. She then asks him if they showed his name on the scoreboard. After he said no, she got at least half of the section to sing happy birthday to this kid. If I wasn't from Mississippi and wanted to get into a long term relationship, I would consider marrying her.
