Why did Bond change his story?

He began by saying that Roger's contacted him... then came out and said that he heard from a guy who heard from a guy that Roger's was representing the Newton's and wanted money.

Gosh, you're completely correct. It makes perfect sense that John Bond would make up a story about Newton wanting money back in DECEMBER of last year because we totally wanted to drive him into the arms of another program who wouldn't DARE dream of paying him.

If makes even more sense that our Athletic department would totally run with it and report it to the SEC, who would then turn around and report it to the NCAA after sitting on it for 6 months.

Yeah, yeah, I can totally see it. Everyone in the SEC West, SEC East, SEC office, NCAA, and the National Media is totally out to get Auburn, who has never been put on NCAA probation for paying players. Ever.

It's all one big-assed conspiracy. Call Fox Mulder!

I was unsure if Bond was innocent before this post. This post convinced me that he's not. You're a genius.

If this is a MSU/Bond/Rogers issue, why do you care? Those parties haven't brought Auburn into this at all. Why so defensive?

where is bond quoted as changing his story...

paul is acting like bond had a denial, but then he said it was just "he hadn't talked to rodgers in 28 years."

Nobody is discussing this. Cam had a brother that played for Jacksonville. He was on the team until this year.

Do you think if you can convince a bunch of message board posters that John Bond is lying the NCAA investigation will just go away?

Bond admits that he has no idea how Cam was recruited by AU or if KR shopped him to AU. He just stated how he was approached? If you guys are so damn innocent then why are you so concerned bout it? Even if Cecil took the money, as long as no member of the AU staff or booster was responsible, then you are fine. You just lose all these wins after the fact. Cecil might be a bishop/preacher, but he's all about the money, no question!!

In the original ESPN Article Bond is quoted as saying "It was going to take some cash" AND THE STORY SAYS A SOURCE CONFIRMED IT AS BOND'S FORMER TEAMMATE..

Bond never said it was Rogers that contacted him directly. Bond said ESPN came to him saying they were going to run the story with or without his quotes.

ESPN's Source was slightly off, not Bond.

Nice Try though..

he never named Rogers, ever. Look at the statement from his lawyer and then look at the radio interview which are the ONLY two things he has said about this issue publicly. Then link me somewhere he named Rogers. You can't do it.

Enjoy probation, you guys are going down hard.

Bond is proven correct and Auburn has to send back that trophy. That will be even more funny then Auburn going undefeated and not getting into the Championship game. Auburn is screw no matter what. Once the NCAA gets involved they are relentless and not only is Auburn up against the NCAA they are also up against University of Alabama. They are screwed big time.
