That and we're saving scholarships for the 2011 class. Wish the best to Rashad though. Nice kid. Super athletic.

Just because Coach tells you to post it doesn't mean you can't check it out for yourself first.

Sounds like MSU did not offer. There are ways around grade issues unless he is a like J. Powe. USM has taken several good players in the last few years, too bad they still suck..

that if Greg thought that MSU REALLY shouldn't pass on this guy he would have conveyed that to Stans. From the gist of the article it didn't sound like Greg had any major heartburn about us not offering.

With his success at Starkville, some have wondered why Perkins wasn't actively recruited by Mississippi State. Carter, who did field inquiries regarding Perkins from Alabama and Missouri, has an explanation.</p>

"I think they were looking for a bigger guy at that spot than Rashad," he said. "They've got Kody (Augustus) and Romero (Osby) playing that type of position. I think Rashad could've helped them, but it would be hard for me to criticize Mississippi State because they haven't made a whole lot of bad decisions in recruiting."</p>

No Way Greg is going to badmouth MSU..........</p>

Maybe that statement should tell you that the players USMhas taken (that we passed on) weren't all that damn good to start with. I'm betting the same is the case with this kid too.

who makes up for his lack of height with his leaping ability. I'm surprised we didn't want him. See Gholar, Michael. I assume he doesn't have the offensive skills that you'd want from a D-1 player who is 6'5". I haven't seen him play, just making an assumption.

If we didn't offer him, I am okay with that. Like Carter said, we've done pretty well in choosing who to offer in-state. I also think next year's senior class may have something to do with it.

Rivals shows MSU did offer...but who knows.

His coach was an MSU player and they are in Starkville. If he was really wanted, he would have been recruited hard.

Sounds like a good kid...not many would have been so upfront about dedicating their waking moments to the violin as a youth.
But who should be kicked off the team to free up a scholarship for him?

I doubt he would have contributed much next season, so then he gets jumbled into the class with the uber recruits of '11.

If he had an offer from us, he wouldn't be signing with USM. And Greg Carter wouldn't be being quoted saying things like MSU hasn't made too many recruiting mistakes in recent years.

So we couldnt have offered, then pulled it due to grades? Or offered with conditions?

I have no idea if its correct or not, the point is that just because MSU offers an in state player doesnt mean they are comin.

And yes, if MSU offers an in-state player, we're not going to lose him to USM. We could lose him to Mississippi or out of state. But not to USM. The last player they've gotten that we wanted was Quinten Smith, and he came back to Starkville after only about a month.

Smith came to State first, then left to go to Hattiesburg before eventually returning. I remember him standing in line to sign up for early class enrollment since he got a 25 on the ACT.

My point was that we didn't really want him to transfer, but he did and then very quickly realized he'd made a huge mistake. </p>

I think your point gets stronger because of that. He's a recruit who didn't buy in at State, transferred to USM with a shot at serious PT, realized just how much NITChampBurg sucks, and hightailed it back to Starkville.

Rashad is a good kid, I use to work with hid dad, who did a great job raising him. He is a smart kid, but his ACT may not have shown it. Some kids don't test well

Stansbury hates every suggestion Fishwater99 on the sixpackspeak message board makes. He is purposely trying to piss off Fishwater99. He thinks by passing on this years Mr. Basketball from Starkville, where Stansbury never got a chance to see him, that it would literally piss off Fishwater99 so that he would ***** more.
