to have surgery so long? I guess they were hoping that the injury would get better over time, but it would've been nice if he had this surgery a couple months ago. NM

We can’t assume it was his choice. It’s not like Tannehill with the Dolphins, a PRO, that knew he needed it and chose NOT to have it done. He’s an 18 year old kid, maybe the orthopedic surgeon erred on the side of caution and chose the less invasive option and informed the family that 18 year old bones are resilient and heal faster on their own. I’m not a doctor (I didn’t stay at a holiday inn express either) but I’m sure the family and brighter minds than you or I made the decision for their reasons.

just another example that shows cal only cares about winning at he nba draft and not titles. if he cared more about uk than he does these players he would have demanded JV get both legs operated on despite one being perfectly healthy and the other not needing it. arms too for good measure.

None and done.
Let's hope that's not the case.

Look, I'm the biggest UK fan ever, but I've seen too much.

It's like Tyler Eifert, world class talent, but his body can't stay complete enough for sports.

Nothing to be ashamed about, it's just life.

If he really cared about them he would go ahead and spend the six million dollars each and turn them into Steve Austin.

Those were in 1973-1974 dollars. Would be a lot more now!

The Steve vs Bigfoot is still one of my favorite tv memories! Go Steve Austin!!

Best case scenario is JV works his way into the rotation in the last half of the season and helps us hit another level late in the season.

Realistically, the rotation will be all but set by the time he's cleared and Cal won't put him in games. JV will then go through the draft process, get a top twenty guarantee, and he'll be gone.

I tend to think along these lines as well. By January the team should be starting to gel. I don't see Cal messing with the lineup and risking another injury to Vanderbilt.

Three separate injuries within a year? He probably won't get a top 20 guarantee unless he looks really good at the end of the season and turns heads at the combine. That's the kind of pick that gets GMs fired. Coming out on the heels of Harry Giles won't help his case either.

Vanderbilt would have needed a good season to get a top 20 guarantee.

Harry Giles was the next Chris Webber, fell to 20th, and even that was a risk a lot of teams wouldn't take.

If he goes, it's because there's something wrong with his foot that puts him in Orton territory where he has to get paid whatever he can while he can before his body shuts him down for good.
