Why do all the schools have women's basketball programs?

There are only about 15-20 teams that can be competitive. When 90% of your games are 30-point blowouts, it makes for a boring product.

Well, I mean, I'm all in favor of women being given the same opportunity as men. If they want to play the game, fine by me. Let them play. Organize it just as well as the schools do for men. No problem. - Edited to say, it's a game, not a product. JMHO.

I'm assuming my gripe would be asking to take a close look at the "books" and finding out that either 1) the men largely subsidize the women in financial terms.....or 2) The school, in order to pay for women's programs, hike their prices arbitrarily WITHOUT CUTTING SPENDING somewhere else....IE: paying BOT's members outrageous amounts of money in "salary".... (puh-lease) , or spending ludicrous amounts of $$ on BLATANTLY LAVISH "facilities" for the athletes. --- No matter how you slice it, it's not a sustainable model in the long run.
This. Short answer.

So all the other teams play to have fun maybe? Winning it all is not everyone's only goal

Not many schools have the financial resources that South Carolina, Texas, UCONN, Louisville, UCLA, Southern California has. Carolina pays Dawn Staley over $5M a year and that does not include the income Dawn gets from AFLAC and other opportunities. If I had to guess I would guess Staley probably has an annual income of over $12M a year. Just a guess. Look in the rafters and you will see the return on your investment.

Further, if the issue is Women's Basketball, most of the games will be competitive once we get into conference season.

Military institutions are exempt from Title IX and still support women’s bball. Though the Citadel doesn’t fall under that same umbrella, they do not have a women’s bball team.
