Why has Ole Miss not made it to the CWS? Serious post.

With the teams Ole Miss has had the last decade, it is really amazing that they have not made it to Omaha a single time. What have they lacked that is holding them back?

They still had one of the best teams in the country, as we did. And similarly, both fanbases have a group of nimrod fans that want those coaches fired. Hmm.

Since then, I think their talent level has fallen off a tad - not alot, they are still good, just not Omaha good. They had a chance in '07 with Kline and Lynn. I was worried about last year, I figured they'd get there under Pomeranz. Just didn't have the supporting cast. I figured they'd get put out quickly this year.

even after the SEC Ch'ip game. After you beat Texas the first day, I faced the fact that Ole Miss was about to win a title in MSU's glory sport.

Thank you for not doing it.

As you say, the Texas year you got screwed royally by the selection committee (just like we did when we lost to Texas in the 1983 regional). Both times Texas arguably had to beat the 2nd best team in the country just to get to the CWS. I don't think Bianco has choked in the super-regionals nearly as much as he's blamed for.

We've earned one national seed in 10 years, so only one time in 10 years were we seeded Top 8. We had other teams that were good enough to make a run, and a couple that hosted Supers as non-national seeds, but it's been a combination of bad breaks along with simply just not being good enough.

You can not be good enough but still make it to Omaha with some breaks, and you can be more than good enough and not make it to Omaha. It happens every year, but over a long period of time, you're probably not going to go more or less than you deserve. Those breaks will balance out. One national seed in 10 years, means even with the bad breaks in 05, we maybe deserved to make one trip to Omaha in that period.

I'm not a big Bianco fan either. I think he's severely lacking in some key areas that I don't think he's ever going to address due to his ego.
