I would argue that Socialism and Communism (formally atheist) are the root of the problems around the world. Certainly the greatest body count racked up by the millions.

Actually, this is false. The death toll attributed to religion is in the hundreds of millions. 100m is attributed to Christianity alone [in the same sense that deaths are attributed to communism and socialism, where deaths are caused by actions from leaders of a particular ideology or religion whether they be directly attributed to the same prevailing ethos or not]. But to be fair, religion had a ~4,000 year head start on socialism and communism.

You probably could not be less correct without trying. Take a stab at Google and there are hundreds of links to TDS rooted in his faith.

https://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/08/...bow-debate-a-clash-of-faith-and-football.html
Your article literally just proved my point. No where does it mention anyone in the mainstream media criticizing Tebow. It talks about fans and opposing players being disrespectful, and a journalist in Denver and Canada each writing articles about him being the worst QB in the NFL and the Kim K of quarterbacks. How does any of this support your narrative that the mainstream media is anti-religion and prayer? Straw-man much?

Hell, the article literally has a picture of UF fans dressed as monks. Seems like that is being disrespectful of religion, and they are there supporting him.

Can you post an article or video by mainstream media criticizing his religious beliefs or mocking them? Can you post anything of mainstream media being anti- religion or prayer? Your personal opinions, narratives and conspiracies are entertaining and all but they aren't rooted in fact. Can you provide any factual evidence to make then so?

Truth. I didn’t mean just Christians. I meant The big 3 throughout history.

I’m all for the principles of the Bible. As an atheist with a catholic upbringing I understand the lessons of the Bible.

Just be nice to people. I don’t need religion to tell me I shouldn’t be a dick to ppl.

Separation works find for you. Does the constitution and TTU's FREEDOM of Religion and religious expression work for you too?

Yeah it does. I also am cool with cbs not airing it if they don’t want to bc that’s their freedom too.

Many teachings in the Bible are geared toward a social model closer to socialism than capitalism.

And that's understatement. Christ's words, especially, ain't ambiguous on such issues, he clearly sounds like a socialist anti-capitalist type fella.

Attributed by whom? I've seen a lot of your anti-Christian made up stats. A link would be enjoyable to debunk.

Ha. Check out Pol Pot and Stalin for starters. Communism is devastating to its own people to the tune of about 100+ mil. Those are real numbers and easy to verify...not made up burn the witch nonsense.

But the types who get up in arms about some bizarre, perceived slight want the Old Testament, not the New. They like the vengeful, angry version of a Supreme Deity.

You might like to do some research into the place of the NYT in the media. It is deemed to be fairly important. That is why my link is theirs.

Headline: In Tebow Debate, a Clash of Faith and Football

At the intersection of faith and football, the fervor that surrounds both Tebow’s beliefs and his struggles in his second season for the Denver Broncos has escalated into a full-blown national debate over religion and its place in sports.

Interesting discussion of the topic that you apparently do not believe existed.

Unless you are a mind reader you will have a hard time knowing if criticism of Tebow's QBing is because he is a bad QB or as the NYT piece says is from people/media hopeful that he fails because of his faith. It is impossible to rule in or out that being the motivation.

If you hate Kaepernick then you will be called a racist. That is the playbook.

If you hate Tebow....its okay because hating a religious person is fine...as long as he is a Christian. If he were a Muslim then you are a racist.

I do not need to be a mind reader to know that Tebow sucks as a NFL QB. Great college player, but like a lot of great college basketball players not made for the NBA, Tebow is not even a below average pro QB.

The media in your linked NYT article isn't criticizing Tebows religious beleifs or practices. They certainly aren't avoiding or censoring out religion as you claimed and are strawmaning from now.

The guys in the linked ESPN video aren't criticizing Tebows religion or diminishing it. They certainly aren't avoiding religion. They are all supporting his faith and debating it relating to his play and success. Skip simply states that it's not entirely about his religion and also about his hardwork and ability. Can you point to where they mock or discredit his religion? Can you point to where they want to censor out his prayer or religious beliefs?

Your article and video again prove your assertion wrong that the media is censoring out religion. How is that accurate when both are about religion and supportive of it?

Just asking but do you think Muslims would ever respect Christianity? They’ve been fighting for thousands of years.
No. They would not. They might for a while or certain sects might even have intentions to respect Abrahamic religions but if history is an indicator Christians at the very best are considered 2nd class citizens in the Muslim world. Their religion is a religion of conquerors starting with their founder.

That being said, my reply wasn’t pertaining to self preservation of self defense. It dealt with talk about taking “our” country back by any means necessary or by Bible in one hand and a sword in the other. Christianity isn’t a way of political rule like Islam is in Muslim countries.

I’d rather fight to see the constitution upheld so I may have the right to worship how I please.

If Christianity is not political then why does bills putting "In God we Trust" in prominent locations in KY schools go through?

Because a belief in a Creator isn’t just a Christian thing. It is also the foundation our country was built on. Our “Rights” are God given and inalienable. Belief in a creator is in everything the country was founded on. The statement doesn’t say in Yahweh we trust.

Also, I didn’t say Christianity wasn’t meant to be in politics. I said it’s not a political ruling system. Christianity as a ruling system isn’t about utilizing Christin principles. It’s about the state telling you how and where to worship. The very reason Christians came to the new world. The Church of England used the guise of Christianity to control the day to day lives of the people in every aspect.

Because "Christians" are sick and tired of the ACLU and leftists in general removing God from every aspect of our Judeo-Christian nation under the guise of "separation" which is a fraud in the first place. Its clearly a political flexing of muscle and a thumb in the eye of guys like you apparently who hate Christians but do everything in their power to embrace and appease Islam.

Ha. Check out Pol Pot and Stalin for starters. Communism is devastating to its own people to the tune of about 100+ mil. Those are real numbers and easy to verify...not made up burn the witch nonsense.

OK, a few below :

The pogroms of pre Soviet Union Russia
The Hussite Wars
Reconquista
The German Peasants' War
Northern Crusades
Bosnian Crusade
The Schmalkaldic War
The Eighty Years' War
Wendish Crusade
Spanish Inquisition
Theodosius persecution
Tudor Conquest of Ireland
The French Wars of Religion
European Conquest of the Americas
The Thirty Years War
Wars of Kappel
War of Spanish Succession
Army of God
The Council of Paderborn
Livonian Crusade
Prayer Book Rebellion
Knight's Revolt
Phineas Priesthood
Albanian Genocide during the Balkan Wars
National Liberation Front of Tripuria
Lord's Resistance Army Insurgency
Indian Rebellion
Heugenot Rebellion
KKK Terrorism
Cologne Wars
Anti Balakas Christian Militias of Africa
Dum Diveras
The Wars of the Three Kingdoms
Prussian Crusade
Nine Years War
Scottish Reformation and resulting Civil War
European scramble for Africa
Swedish Crusades
English Reformation and resulting Civil War
Albigensian Crusade
Cromwell’s Conquest of Ireland

These were all supported by, or carried about because of, Religion in the guise of Christianity. This does not include atrocities carried out by those that call themselves Christians for non religious purposes. We should include that if we’re looking at the Russian Holomodor or Khmer Rouge.

Like I said, religion has a big head start

Then it should be "a god or deity", capitalize G makes it the Judeo-Christian deity, like using Jehovah or Yahweh.
The Freemason founding fathers created this government with a belief all religions are equal and able to worship without persecution.
Along with "Freedom of Religion" is also freedom from religious views.
You like in a dry county and can't buy a drink since it was deemed a "sin" years ago.
My kid gets sick cause someone didn't vaccinate theirs due to religious or crackpot scientific study .
If two guys want to be married, so what it doesn't affect me one bit. Too much evil in the world to focus on that.

Christianity maybe not a ruling system but lobbying is, and that's a strong lobby.

According to the Encyclopedia of Wars, less than 7% of wars have had a religious cause and account for less than 2% of fatalities in wars. The Crusades, which are described as the worst of the worst for religious wars led to estimates between 1-3 million deaths. World War 1 alone led to 35 million deaths.

Of 1763 wars recorded at the time of writing only 123 were classified to have a religious cause.

-lulz, the huguenot rebellion of 1620. I did check out the only remaining Huguenot church in the USofA last week. Pretty cool.

-if we are looking for a trend: state sponsored murder by devout atheists are on the uptick over the last 100 or so years...christian atrocities are down what with all the reformation and whatnot. Never fear though, there is one particular religion that would give a bit of credence to your thesis in modern times. Not sure why you didn't mention that particular religion. Conflicting narratives?

So clearly you haven't watched or read either.

The video starts out asking if it's fair to lump his on field success with his strong religious beleifs and actions and quickly derides into debate over his ability to be an NFL qb.

The article discusses his religion in context of how people percieve it related to his performance and opposing fans use to target or criticize. It never once mentions mainstream media wanting to stop it from happening or being shown.

I know from the headlines you thought they were going to fit your agenda, but take the time to read and watch them. You'll find they contradict your narrative.

Founders did not believe all religions were created equally. While not all Founders & Freemasons were Christians almost all were Deist. The House and Supreme Court even held services and had the gospel preached. From all denominations, not all religions. Freedom of Religion is not freedom from religious views. We’re constantly subjected to religious views or even those with a lack of religious views. FOR originally meant the state cannot force you to believe or worship a certain way. We get to make our own decisions and not be treated differently whether in the majority or minority.

Also I don’t care if anyone wants a drink. Biblically, drunkenness makes one more likely to sin but drinking itself isn’t labeled a sin. I can’t speak for where everyone else gets it is, just what scripture says. I vaccinate my kids and I don’t know any Christians in my area who refuse to based on religious reasons. As a citizen I can ask politicians to lobby for marriage to be defined as man/woman but also accept it when the vote doesn’t go my way. People should absolutely ask politicians to lobby for what they deem morally right no matter what they believe or don’t.

Agree 100% there are bigger evils to worry about in the world than some of the things we argue about today that have little effect on our day to day lives.

Yep, a **** ton of people lost their lives to or from war. We're not arguing that. Lives lost in war >>>>>>>> lives lost from the other two criteria previously discussed. With 150B+ humans living on this planet over the past 50,000 years, I think it's fair to say at least 2% perished during warfare, or 3B.

And if you're limiting the scope of this exercise to official wars, this excludes the European conquests of the Americas and Africas that were sanctioned by papal decree or divine right of a ruling monarchy, along with the inquisition.

I can't see the 7% statistic, seems rather small. I'd be interested to read what meets their definition of a war fought over, or about, religious differences.

Nice made up number. In any event, the vast majority on the earth have come in the last 2000 years, since Christ.

As to your earlier made up point, you blamed religion, Christianity, for the lions share of deaths. That is rubbish. As to war, the communists killed off their own people by starvation etc.... and as to War...war has always existed and mostly over land.

That is pseudo-intellectual indoctrination BS from every atheist Christophobic hater I have had the displeasure to know. That list includes any nation who had a Christian living in it or may have fought in its military.

I'll not dignify it with a reply...but I will note that I got a chuckle knowing that Columbus discovered America to spread Christianity (and disease aka God Pox) and kill off the Indians while doing it. LOL. You guys are predictable but sad.

Considering the majority of the bloodiest wars in history have all been fought in the last century I would say 7% is about right.

Speaking of scope are you “estimating” only wars & conflicts with religion as the actual cause or are you throwing in land grabs by groups who “claim” religion as justification? If so, which religious doctrines verify the blame?

I mean, if we wanted to pick nits you could assert the Revolutionary War’s root cause was because of religion considering colonist came for religious freedom and it eventually led to war, even though religion wasn’t the driving force.

If you hate Christians any war that a white Christian fought in made it a religious jihad for Jesus. Give the left a few decades to make up history they will add the Iraq and Afghan wars to the list and call them wars of Christian aggression against Islam. That list is total rubbish. The Catholic Church was in charge of a lot of land and its Army did certainly influence a lot of the conflict hundreds of years ago....for territory. But those numbers are dwarfed by National Socialist Germany, Communist and formally Atheist Russia China and Cambodia. All in the last century...not hundreds of years ago like his comic book list of wild estimates.

The Crusades themself, while gruesome began 400 years after Jerusalem, Egypt, & others were conquered by Muslim armies, Constantinople was first sieged, Italy plundered, Spain Conquered, France & Rome attacked, and centuries of burnings, murders and forced conversions. 2/3 of the world that Christianity was established in had been conquered by Muslim armies and they were coming for the rest.
Anyone who believes the Christian Faith is a religion of physical conquest knows nothing about its doctrines.

It is a convenient way for atheists to blame religion for everything. You and I blame MAN and the conquest of land. Their numbers are WILD exagerations that range from 5M to 30M in his example above....yet he uses the high end rather than the much lower. But when you have a narrative to demagogue....

Clearly Communism and Socialism kills in larger numbers because it is a totally failed system. The greatest prosperity the world has ever see has come from the peace that grew out of free markets and European Christian Civilization.

For someone trying so hard to be christian of the month you sure do seem to have a lot of built up hate and anger. I would suggest more prayer!

Wasn't Constantinople first sacked by Christians of the 4th Crusade?

Actually, this is false. The death toll attributed to religion is in the hundreds of millions. 100m is attributed to Christianity alone [in the same sense that deaths are attributed to communism and socialism, where deaths are caused by actions from leaders of a particular ideology or religion whether they be directly attributed to the same prevailing ethos or not]. But to be fair, religion had a ~4,000 year head start on socialism and communism.

Gods don't kill people....people with Gods kill people....:D

Ohh the irony.....

I'm not sure what is ironic. Atheists are not as good in general as are your garden variety Christian. They realize they must answer at some point to a higher power. Atheists do not. I consider Communists and atheists to be in the same boat. As a rule... Dont trust either.
