Why I support Scott Stricklin for AD

I preface this by saying that I do not know nor have I ever met Mr. Stricklin.

1. Apparently he has been recommended by Greg for the position.

2. We are in the middle of the most extensive expansion planning ever for our facilities and Scott has been there with Greg in these discussions. There is no need for someone to take the time to get up to speed. This is the most critical time for MSU sports as there has ever been. Timing is eveything since construction costs are at there lowest in years.

3. Scott already knows the people involved with the programs, both coaches and promient alumni.

4. Stability. This will be the third AD in the last 2 years. At some point, programs decline due to instability and this would not be the case with Scott who has enough ties to MSU to stay of a long while, provided that he performs the job at a high level. People without ties to the area or school, may be apt to wander: see Greg.

5. Working in a variety of positions in athletic departments at Tulane, Auburn, Baylor, Kentucky and then being hired back at MSU to work with Greg has given him the experience to be the AD.

All of these things lead me to believe that he is the best hire we can make for the AD position.

as any #2 or small school AD, and especially better than any former coach.

If we were able to snag a successful, experienced BCS athletic director though ...

I just thought it would be at least 3-5 more years. I went to State with Scott, and I like him. Not that that means anything. If he is the one Keenum picks, I would be fine with that.

Isn't he a graduate from MSU? If so, that would be another really good reason for the hire. We know he wouldn't be going anywhere if given the opportunity since this is probably his "dream" job. i.e. John Cohen</p>

*** candidate for AD. As a matter of fact, it may be an authentic deterrent for a hire unless there are other offsetting benefits.

come on people, we are assuming he would be qualified and wouldn't make a sorry *** candidate for the AD. Just like Cohen, not only did we get a qualified head coach, but it is dream job and we have no worries of him leaving us for greener pastures. That was my point.</p>

And that's exactly what Scott is. The only time I've met him was at the SEC Championship game a couple weeks ago, and he was out front of the arena hustling to get everyone wearing maroon inside that place. Byrne was around as well making sure that State fans were well represented, but Scott was trying to get everyone within eye/ear shot of him that was a State fan into that place.

It's amazing, the difference in effort between someone like LT and these guys. </p>

criteria, using it exclusively narrows you down to two candidates, not one.

But, yes, whoever it is should havea diploma from Jackson Preparatory School,

as a MRA alum, I can't complain if there is a Prep guy as AD (my sister went to Prep). All we have to offer is Scott Polk and Coach34, and as the more qualified of the two, Scott isn't interested. Now if it was a Jackson Academy guy, I'd sing a different tune. <div>
