Why I'm optimistic about athletics

It's really pretty simple. At the end of the day we have people at the top who are qualified for their positions and have a history of hiring qualified people to work for them.

We have issues with money. We have issues at the BOG, but Barchi has done nothing but hire qualified people and complete projects successfully. Everything the guy has touched he has done a good job with.

The AD is taking in more money and having more success in more sports than ever before.

I think that, given the chance, they make a good hire.

I am optimistic because of the following sports

Wrestling (Hiring of Coach Donny P. is probably the best thing that could have realistically happened for team IMO)
Men/Women Soccer (Top 20 teams)
I think WBB is a decent team as well

Hopefully, other sports can see the benefits of having a B10 caliber coach (Donny P.) and watch the success breed more success.

Please learn to spell her name if you're going to hold yourself out as a qualified critic "whose" opinion on the matter bears consideration.
In spite of her rocky start, one of her coaching hires just led his team to a first-ever 2-seeding in an NCAA tournament.
