Game announcers continue to say the Bulldogs are a tourney team. Why? I’ve seen nothing that tells me this is the case. 6 for 18 FTs at Georgia. Yes…they just beat Georgia on the road, but barely. I want MSU to be playing in March, but do we really think they can even win 1 of the next 5 games. Not beating FL, AL, or OM for sure. Maybe OK is a win.

Typically, ft% isn’t considered part of one’s tournament resume.
After the first week of SEC play Lunardi had us as a 2 seed. We built quite a cushion early. And this Georgia team plays like a top 25 team at home, it was a great win.

For an actual answer to your stupid question, first of all we have no bad losses (Butler is our worst loss, but that’s our only quad 2 loss. Every other loss is quad 1.) We also have five quad 1 wins, with four of them being on the road. Oh yeah, we also have five true road wins. We also are playing in by far the toughest conference in the country, and are 5-5 through 10 games. All that stacks up to be a pretty good tournament resume.
If serious question, here is a simple reason. NCAA selects teams for the tournament based on said teams resume. Said team in this case is 5-5 in quad 1 games, 4-1 in quad 2 games, 0 losses in quad 3 and 4 games. That's already a tournament team. I said when the season started we will be top 4 seed. I'm still saying that.

You would have told me before the game that we'd go 6-18 at the FTL and I would have almost guaranteed a loss. We were very lucky to come out of that one with a win.
That's one ugly as sin home top 25 team. They've played better.
We are a tourney team because our resume says we comfortably are. Zero bad losses and 5-2 on the road.
We had a lot to do with them not looking good. We played much better tonight.
Without the horrible free throw shooting, we win that game pretty comfortably. We killed them in points in the paint, were even in rebounds, had more assists and fewer turnovers than Georgia, and shot 55% from the floor. We played very well on the road other than the free throws.
You know what…..you’re right. By all metrics other than FTs, State won that game. Looking solely at FT percentage and viewing this as a “squeak by” win is probably not the right way to evaluate where we are. I was well into the beer when I started that thread. Sobered up now…I’ll take any win we can get.
