Why Is Our SEC Midweek Open Date Always So Early In The Season?

Anyone else wish that our open week was a couple of more weeks into the conference schedule than the 3rd week?

It always seem as if our open date is early in the season. Seems like we would want it in February.

the ridiculous Thursday - Saturday gauntlet is a little wigged, too. the paycheck from ESPN is the nice glimmer in that, though. we've survived one of three we have on the schedule with the others being Ole Miss-Auburn (both at home) and Arkansas-LSU (lsu at home).

We just seem to be getting screwed on it more than the rest. Actually we have 3 weeks where we have Thursday/Saturday matchups. Only three other teams in the SEC have that many and just two other teams have to do it twice. It seems like they could have mixed it up a little better?

If I am not mistaken we play Auburn, Ole Miss, and UK in a 6 day stretch. No team should have to play on a Tuesday after playing Thurs/Sat.

As to the original post in this thread, I think this off week comes at a good time. Our guys have been dealing with various illnesses and injuries the last couple of weeks and look like they could use the break.

The Schedule has been out for some time, so if we get up big in any of those games, he need s to rest a few starters...
We need the break now. Hope we get some rest and and come back strong on Saturday with another road win.

if it has to be made. He might have known about it for a while, but it's still hard to manage 3 games in a six day period or 2 games in a 3 day period no matter who you are. I would think it would be less of an excuse and more a reason performance might be a little down.

As for resting players, it's hard to do when you are as thin at the 1 and 5 as we are.

can't wait for even the remote possibility that he may allude to this so you can have another thing to ***** about, can you?

answer: never. If it were up to you he would have been fired 5 years ago...
I thought he has done a good job so far this SEC season, especially the comeback win on Saturday. He has needed a real bench assiatant for a while.

I just hope we don't slip up and lose to Auburn. It's possible. They've played some good games. Hopefully we can get a big lead in that one and rest players.

A good thing is that Kentucky plays Tennessee the Saturday before our Tuesday night game. Hopefully that one will stay close, and hopefully they won't be able to get up for our game. Stansbury has been good at getting the team ready for UK as of late
