I don't want Boom as the primary guy inside the 10 healthy elbow or not. His method of running off tackle is 1) get the ball 2) run up to behind a blocker and stop 3) look around for an opening 4) burst through it. Worked decent against Auburn, but it's NOT the way to run when tough yards are needed in short yardage situations.
If you're going to have 3 backs, why not a FB beside QB strong, Boom beside him weak, and Horton in the I (pistol). Then you could have a cross-fake to Boom one way, bring the FB across to kick out for Mikel going off tackle away from the fake?
Incidentally, that reminds me of another beef I have with Dawson -- when your O-Line is weak, why would MISDIRECTION not be a major part of your running game?
