Why should I join the Bulldog Club?

Someone please explain to me why I should join the Bulldog Club. I understand the benefit to the University for having it, but what is the benefit for me? I think the answer is, nothing. I don't think there is any benefit for me to join.

I get season tickets for football every year. I have no desire to have more expensive or so called better seats. I enjoy sitting high where I can see everything well.

Although I never have, I can still donate money to the Athletic Dept. without being a Bulldog Club member right? I am just not seeing the benefit for me for being a member.

There will come a time when your benefit will be the ability to keep the seats you have up high with the good views b/c I fully suspect every seat in the stadium will require a Bulldog Club donation when Dan Mullen accomplishes his goals. It could happen as early as next season with the waiting list we haveof people that want season tickets. You also get a tax deduction on 80% of your donation to the BDC.Some people alsoenjoy a strong sense of pride for the annual giftthey provide, whether it is large or small.

This money, regardless of size, is much needed. We have to lowest annual budget in the SEC, next to Vandy (someone correct me on that). If we want to compete year-in and year-out, we need the money.

You know that expansion that you, I, and everyone else wants to see go forward soon? A base membership of 100 bucks makes it 100 bucks closer. If you don't want to give to the BC then drop a few bucks in the fund that is set up for athletic upgrades. Your last sentence makes it sound like like you have something against it. I'm not getting why you would want to donate some money and it not be to the BC. Hell drop em a hundred and give the stickers to some kids.

I'm pretty sure that donations to the "Today, Tomorrow, Forever" Facilities initiative are 100% tax deductible. </p>

If it is 100 percent on that then that would work out great. Hell that 80 percent sure helps from the BC. If you have enough for a schedule A then any legit deduction is awesome to have.

and want to keep your football seats. As demand goes up, you'll have to donate to the BC to get season tickets. If you start now, you'll have higher priority and more of a chance to keep your seats.<div>The money you give gives you permanent priority points in the BC as well. And each year you consecutively give, you get even more.</div><div>
</div><div>Certainly we need every BC member we can get. You are needed. I hope you decide to join us and we'll all take MSU athletics to unprecedented growth. Are you true maroon?</div>

Of course everyone (including myself) wants you to join since it benefits all. But, there is no real reason why you should. It's just a donation that becomes the normal thing to do, making it popular and easy to ridicule those that don't follow. Do what ever you want, but I hope you donate. (I'm not a member, but I'm a student so...)

No post has mentioned a single benefit, although there are several. This is some seriously flawed communication.

I guess a message board is not about messages as much it is about taking advantage of a good opportunity to jump on somebody's ***. That's apparently some fun stuff.

which is what the Bulldog Club is (that's the reason its tax deductible) - do you expect benefits in return? I know I don't.

While simply being a Bulldog Club member doesn't offer much in terms of personal benefits, there's a good bit that is based off of your priority point ranking.

1. Determines what seats you are eligible to get for football. If you look at the seating diagram, you'll see that certain seats require a certain donation. However, if you were to try to donate those amounts starting today, you'd have virtually no chance at getting those seats. The reason is that there are bulldog club members with a higher ranking that want the same seats. You have to accumulate BC points for some time before you can actually get the better seats. I know that you say that you're fine with the seats that you have and you don't care to move. However, what happens in a couple years when you have to donate a certain amount to get the same seats that you now have? You say, "That's fine. I'll just donate that amount at that time." Well, what if the AD also decides to hand out those seats by priority ranking and you have no priority points? If that happens, there's a good chance that you're going to get screwed. You may think that this wouldn't happen, but look no further than the Hump re-seating from 4-5 years ago, and this is precisely what happened. When demand is high enough that MSU can require contributions, you can bet your *** that they're going to do it.

2. Bulldog Club membership is just about the only way that you'll get basketball tickets during the better years.

3. Priority ranking factors into a lot of "special" tickets such as road game tickets, bowl games, postseason play.

4. Priority ranking factors into parking pass allocation.

5. Bulldog Club members get half off Maroon to the Max if you care about that. At least, I think that offer still stands.

So in summary, if you're good with your current season, parking, ability to get postseason tickets, etc, then there probably isn't currently a huge benefit to you. However, I fully expect there to be a rapid expansion of seats that require BC membership for football in the near future. If that happens, it may not mean that you can't get tickets, but I can just about 100% guarantee that you'll be sitting in one of the top corners of the upper decks.

it's better than a 20yr old Al Gore fan who hates those who disagree with him. Sounds like he's just trying to get some justification. Instead of offering reasons, people are jumping in dogpile on him.

At least from those who cared enough not to be a complete *******.

For the record, I'm 29. I stand the entire game. I follow the cowbell rules. I've attended every home game for the past 3 years, and went to the Gator Bowl, and will go to any bowl we get the chance to play in.

I have been on the fence for a while now, and am probably about to join. I really just needed a little encouragement and good information like that of what AROB44 provided to me, no matter how hard dickheads like gringodawg and MISSSTATE34 tried to talk me out of it.

I think you ought to join the Bulldog Club, even if it is just a small amount. Keep in mind what others have said about ticket sales. There may come a point some time in the future when you have to be a Bulldog Club member to get season tickets. Plus is tax deductible.
