This kinda request is THE use case for AI to me. Here's Google's Gemini recapping it:

The BEG Wrestling podcast, hosted by Zach with guests Cornell Kevin and Dom Zakonei, discusses several major issues in the wrestling world.

Key Discussion Points:

  • Apology and Future Shows
    • Zach apologizes for the two-week hiatus and announces that the show will return to a full-time schedule with multiple episodes per week [00:43].
  • Claw Wrestling Draft
    • The upcoming Claw Wrestling Draft, scheduled for less than three weeks away in Atlantic City, is highlighted as an exciting new experience in professional wrestling [01:44]. It will feature six teams, over 200 entries, and 20 D1 All-Americans [02:06].
  • Ben Askren's Health Update
    • Ben Askren successfully underwent a double lung transplant surgery, which is described as incredible news [02:51]. However, his insurance did not cover the procedure, and he faces a recovery period of at least a year, with challenges like avoiding infections [03:06].
  • Carter Starocci Allegations
    • The hosts delve into an article from the Daily Collegian detailing alleged misconduct by Carter Starocci [04:53].
      • Summary of Allegations: Bo Bartlett's girlfriend was informed by another girl that Starocci allegedly cheated on his girlfriend and "raped her twice" [05:39]. This led to Starocci's girlfriend breaking up with him, and in retaliation, Starocci allegedly stole a watch from Bo Bartlett [06:14]. The incident was reportedly caught on video, and Bo reported it to the police after discussing it with Kale Sanderson, but nothing came of the investigation [06:35].
      • Further Allegations: The article also claims Starocci took naked pictures of teammates and shared them on Snapchat, and would "grab their testicles and stick his finger like up their buttholes in practice" [07:55].
      • Current Status: Starocci is reportedly out of the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club, and Bo Bartlett has officially moved to the New York City Regional Training Center [08:14].
      • Discussion: The hosts express concern over the silence from Starocci and Penn State, noting that "silence speaks volumes" [12:02]. They discuss the implications of Starocci's past behavior and the potential impact on the Penn State program [17:37].
  • Bo Bassett's Departure from Iowa
    • Bo Bassett left the Iowa wrestling program, stating it was for a "better situation" [35:32].
    • Financial Implications: Kevin suggests Bassett may have lost out on a $5 million NIL deal by not signing with Iowa, as new rules mean his value will now be determined by a third party [36:09].
    • Reasons for Departure: It's revealed that Bassett's family wanted him to be flown to the RTC for practice, which is illegal due to the 250-mile radius rule [38:05]. The hosts discuss the perceived lack of respect from Bassett towards Iowa and vice versa, and the role of egos in the situation [40:58].
    • Potential Destinations: Nebraska, Oklahoma State, and Penn State are mentioned as possible new homes for Bassett [43:08].
  • Aaron Brooks' Suspension
    • Aaron Brooks was suspended after testing positive for a banned substance, which he claims was from something bought at Walgreens after double pneumonia [48:00].
    • Host's Reaction: Zach expresses disappointment, emphasizing that as a professional and Olympic athlete, Brooks should be more careful and that there are "no excuses" for such a mistake, especially given a prior slip-up [49:01].
  • Gabe Arnold's Dismissal from Iowa
    • Gabe Arnold was officially dismissed from the Iowa wrestling program [55:12].
    • Reasons: While details are hearsay, it's suggested that his dismissal was due to personal and mental issues, including missing a camp because he was on vacation [56:06]. Tom Brands is described as running a "no-nonsense program" [56:34].
  • Transfer Portal Impact
    • The hosts discuss the significant impact of the transfer portal on smaller wrestling teams, noting that many schools like Chattanooga, Oklahoma, and Drexel have gained numerous transfers, leading to more competitive dual meets and increased parity in the NCAA tournament [01:01:01].
    • Roster Limits: Kevin clarifies that wrestlers already on an NCAA roster or signed are grandfathered in and do not count against new roster limits, which will take years to fully implement [01:06:09].
The episode concludes with a call-in from "Wayne," who discusses the new third-party NIL valuation system and its potential to level the playing field in college wrestling [01:03:59].

Thanks for doing the heavy lifting. (seriously).
Signed, Caveman.

This particular thread is about social media, and not wrestling per se so no big deal from my perspective. But I do agree some of the wrestling threads have gone off the rails with off topic stuff, but it is the offseason (as crazy as this offseason has been). I think things will level out as we get closer to wrestling season. Personally I wish the tabloid threads (Carter and Aaron) would die down and fade away until more facts come forward, or hopefully nothing comes of any of it and they just die. No thanks to Beau and Syd.

Here's another graphic. NCAA points at 174 during the Cael Era:

Edit: prior graphic had the incorrect year range.
Awesome chart, but why is the Penn State bar purple, or are my eyes deceiving me?

It’ll be interesting to see how they supplement losing Jax, Bo, and crew to graduation in a couple of years. Keegan is good, but he’s not Bo or Melvin. They have another good kid coming up whose name is escaping me at the moment, but it’s almost unheard of to have wave after wave of elite level kids short of being a private boarding school like Sem or Blair.

Also it's not in a population center, unlike Beca and FCA. Far smaller local/commuter base.

Probably Jayden O'Farrill. He'll be a sophomore this coming season. He finished 4th in PA States (AAA) @ 172.

He just won the Junior 175 lbs. weight class @ Fargo, where he took down Salah Tsarni (Maryland). He's in blue in the below video of the final:

Pretty sure they got a few move-ins for the next school year. So it really depends on how much Bill stays invested in coaching. He'll obviously be all-in until Keegan and Jax's little brother are done.

Of note about Jayden, a few years ago he moved from Florida to NEPA to be part of Wyoming Seminary Elem wrestling. He moved up about the same time as the Bacons did, both from the same FL team to Wyoming Sem. While there I secured tickets to a PSU BJC dual, I think Iowa, for both families.
I guess he then moved out to McCort. He is now @johnstownsteel ‘s recruiting responsibility.

Hmm, who would you pick from between Ed Ruth, Bo Nickel, and Aaron Brooks? That's a tough one.

I guess this means they're putting Cael at 197.

Speaking of which: Cael, Varner, and Cox. All 3 won multiple NCAA titles and were World or Olympic Champs. Plus Rosholt was a 3x NCAA champ, but went MMA instead of freestyle.

Yeah, in the 184 article, it states:

"Some of those stars — Carter Starocci at 174 and Cael Sanderson at 197, for example — fell into other weight classes during the Flowrestling All-Quarter Century voting."

I presume from the above that Flo is putting CS at 197. I think (not certain) that the All-Quarter Center team factors in the years 2001 thru 2025, inclusive. As such, CS @ 184 in 1999 and 2000 are immaterial. So they were left with CS @ 184 in 2001 and CS @ 197 in 2002 from which to pick.

On rivals, some of the best threads went way off topic. A certain raccoons thread immediately comes to mind. Or maybe some found it annoying. I don’t know. There was a sense of camaraderie that I hope finds its way here.

To specify the donor:

Pretty impressive when you can count a guy like this and billionaire Josh Harris among your donors

Eh, cheapskate! Our CEO of Merrill Lynch alum gave $25M to create an Honors College, and another $30M to endow schollies (academic), etc. ;)
