That is a good point by Pyles. It is easy to think Levi is older than he is. Considering his age and relative inexperience in freestyle the fact he made our Senior World team already bodes well for his freestyle career going forward.

I’ve read and re-read this articles a few times now and I really appreciate KD’s coaching philosophy. It’s so common in the club wrestling scene (especially youth) for coaches to flaunt credentials and personal accomplishments just to get a kid to wear their gear for a single tournament or browbeat them into training at their club only. KD is the opposite. His kids know that he’s living and dying with them so it doesn’t matter if they miss a practice or if they ask something he doesn’t know the answer to. He’s got their best interests at heart and they know that. In my experience, that makes a world of difference with kids whether they’re elite or not.

if your self-worth is dependent on which 13-18 year olds are choosing (with manipulation) to train with your group, you’re corny and I scorn you.
