1. QB- among Fla, Georgia, and TN- SC quarterback Garcia has the most experience and will have the best receiving corp since Spurrier has been there
2. Defense- SC will have a better defense than Georgia, and a close second to Florida. Florida is more talented but less experienced.I think SC beats Georgia at home.
3. Florida's downswing- (now when I say down swing I mean a 3 loss year). Florida has a new QB, unproven WRs, and a coaching staff that has seen alot of departures. Say what you want, but you could tell they missed Mullen last year. Now, they've got to break in a new DC with a inexperienced defense. Talented yes- but depth, chemistry, and experienced (or lack of) add up in close games.
4. Spurrier- I refuse to believe he has forgotten how to win. He's bound to have a stroke of luck at some point. It all starts and ends with Garcia, which I think this will be his best shot.

Why SC WILL NOT win the East- easy...Schedule (holy crap)

I am not saying that they did not miss Mullen but last year they did not have a down field threat. Their best reciever last yearwas Cooper and he was not what I call a stud receiver.

In fact, if you take into account the fact Spurrier gets to play 1 I-AAgame per year and Woods didn't, their records are almost identical. How much more do you need to believe that Spurrier isn't the same coach he once was? Florida will win the East. Their "down" year will still have them ina BCS bowl (and possibly in the title game).

some "South Carolina is going to be really good" talk.

It happens every year. Spurrier's problem is that what he does isn't unique anymore and isn't being done with athletes head and shoulders above everyone else's.

The offense at Florida looked out of sync all year. Yeah they missed Harvin, what offense wouldn't. But I believe it's pretty accurate to say that when an anemic offense like MSU gets drastically better while a high powered Florida offense diminishes a bit, and there was a coaching change from Florida to MSU, it's pretty obvious what the reason for it is.

And Riley Cooper was a 5th rounder last year. Not exactly chopped liver.

Yes, this year holds a lot more opportunity than in years past, but don't forget this same team got throttled by UCONN in the Papa John's Bowl last year. Their fate lies in Garcia's head, yes his head, because although he is talented he makes too many mistakes.

and the talent gap between SC and the rest has closed some. He has recruited pretty well, and this will be his most talented group to date at SC. He actually has more than one WR to work with. Florida will be down on both sides of the ball just from lack of experience. How much more do I need you ask- well, this year I guess.

Spurrier is hardest on his QBs, so much to the point that it looks like they become a head case half way through the season because he's on them so much. If it "starts and ends with Garcia" and Spurrierneeds to have "a stroke of luck" in order to be better than Florida, I don't see it happening.

Spurrier = Has been.

but I just cant. Fla is going to struggle some this year- moving to more of a passing offense with average WR's is not the best of timing for them. But SC has to play @Auburn Tigers, @Florida Gators, and home to the Alabama Crimson Tide and Arkansas Razorbacks. They could end up 7-1 or most likely- 5-3. I think they beat the Georgia Bulldogs this year to get an early boost though

Like LSU, their key is the OL. Thats been Spurrier's biggest problem- protecting the QB and inability to run the ball effectively. We'll see

Ask Bama vs. TN last year, aska 2 loss LSU National Championship team. Everyteam that has a great season has a stroke of luck andI just don't seeFlorida being dominate like the last 2 yrs. I just think this is SC's time. Its all for July discussion.

been at USC. Their oline was banged up all last year. They also have finally got some playmakers. I think they finish second in the east though.

...every summer we hear Ole Miss will win their first 5 games this year.

That same refrain has been tossed out every summer since Internet sports messageboards came on line.

How many times has Ole Miss won their first 5 games in the last 15 years?

I'm not going to look it up, but not may.
