They vastly over estimated their national profile. I think they are lucky to get Freeze. I can't imagine taking a job somewhere that your own fans are taking out full page ads in multiple papers calling for the previous coach to be fired. Also not knowing who your boss would be is tough.

Freeze is not a homerun hire, but he is a good coach with Mississippi ties. If they give him a chance, which is unlikely, he might do good things for them.

I guess they figured that Archie could talk him into taking the job since he had been to Ole Miss a couple of times for some motivational speaking arrangements. Then they added in the guy from FedEx for money and then the two women and Shep Smith for political correctness.

especially after all the shenanigans that went on last year. Now I might could see that they likely wouldn't want a coach that might possibly put a stop to it.

firm and all they came up w/ was a guy that has already coached there and was only a couple hours away when they hired him? They could have sent a Boy Scout troop to find him and bring him back and saved a bunch of time and money

is the guy that they wanted the most- Mike Leach- was not going to put up with underhanded dealings. And he sure isn't going to kiss anyone's ***.

even though they keep losing, havent competed for an SEC football title in over 40 years, and constantly fight us to be the 9th best SEC football program- they just cant grasp reality and see where they really are.<div>
</div><div>They think their ****** little Mississippi town is a wonderment and a desirable place for people to move to.</div><div>They think they belong in the top 6 of the SEC, when they havent been in that group for over 40 years.</div><div>Many of them actually think their facilities are head and shoulders above ours.</div><div>
</div><div>They dont understand that very few coaches want to even coach there, especially at a school where the expectations are much higher than they are capable of meeting. And then add in the fact that the new AD has not been hired yet- and you have dwindled your coaching pool to a guy who is a Memphis High School Girls coaching legend in Freeze</div><div>
</div><div>And I love the fact they still seem to think their program is still so much above ours. They cant even admit in public that the Egg Bowl is a big deal now that we win it more often (12-9 since it returned to the campuses). Since then they have 10 bowls to our 9 (which includes 3 Indy's and a Motor City)...we both have one 10 win season, and we have played for the SEC title- they havent. But you hear them talk- and its all about how much better they were in the 1950's</div><div>
</div><div>I love it and hope their delusions have no cure.</div>
