Why the mystery?

Is it common for the fans not to have any idea who calls the plays for a program? Is it a taboo question for a reporter to ask? It seems that nobody in message board land has any idea who the actual play caller is and it seems odd to me that it would require some "classified" clearance to find out...

Of course at this point, I'd keep it quiet for fear of a lynch mob forming at the guy's home...

Because fans are completely unable to form rational opinions about their teams. I actually respect Mullen for not talking about it, as frustrating as it may be. Keeping quiet is a virtue not many in this day and age possess.
