Why would the Knicks be better than the Cavliers for LeBron?

I get the Chicago and Miami talk because those teams have some good players and have won championships within the last 10-15 years. But the Knicks? They have been worse than the Memphis Grizzlies for years and their front office is inept. As far as exposure goes, is there anyone on the planet that still does not know who LeBron is?

basketball player second. I'm afraind he's got more Jay-Z in him than MJ.

So that's why he'd go to New York.

If he cares most about winning, Chicago is the obvious choice.

That's why.

And it translates into Chris Bosh and whoever else they can get on there to help him.

Listening to Cowherd, he made a good point about Chicago...Rose and LEbron would be 2 wing guys...Chicago needs a good big to battle Gassol and Howard, which they don't have and would not be able to afford.

He should jsut go to NY already. Makes the most sense. Bring them back from the dead. Would be a great legacy.

If the Knicks have all this money then why have they sucked so bad for so long? Why have they not brought in any good players over the years? I could see LeBron going there thinking the Knicks were going to pony up all this money to bring in some good players only to see the Knicks bring in old, washed up players that they could get on the cheap.

There is also the matter of the salary cap. LeBron will be making no less than 25 million a season. How much is left to pay guys to come to New York?

The Knicks have enough cap room to bring in Lebron and one more premier, max salary player (like Chris Bosh). I think they have been saving up for this offseason for the past few years...

I will believe it when I see it though. It is easy to use the excuse "freeing up cap room" when in fact a team is just being cheap. It seems like teams like the Knicks, Clippers, Nets, and Wizards have been "clearing cap space" for about a decade now. Frankly, if I was a Knick fan I would be pissed that my team just salvaged several years in hopes of getting player that may or may not even come.

For full disclosure I am a Laker fan, but I can never recall them being crappy for several years while they tried to save money to bring players in. You can be creative with the salary cap and smart with trades but the the Knick front office is a bunch of morons.

somewhere else too, because they have no nucleus, and their fans expect far too much. Chicago sounds great, but the biggest issue is stepping straight into Jordan's shadow.

Those huge contracts (Eddy Curry, Jamal Crawford, and others)hampered their ability to make any roster moves at all. Plus, those guys just made up a terrible team. I think they have taken a pass on the last 2 years, simply because they couldn't have won even if they would've tried. Basically, they've had to blow the team up, but could only do it slowly and one step at a time. The Isiah Thomas experiment in the front office was an unequivocal disaster, and they are just now to the point where they can go in the right direction.

That said, i don't see LeBron going to NY.They just have TOO many holes (basically EVERYWHERE), and LeBron doesn't want to waste a couple of years whilehis team tries to find a decent supporting cast for him. I think Chicago is the best option. They have a GREAT young PG, a couple of shooters, andNoah is decent. One rumor on ESPN is that the Bulls cando a sign and trade with the Cavs with Luol Deng for LeBron, and keep enough cap space to go after Bosh or Wade (who is from Chicago).

Would anyone bet against this starting lineup? Rose, Wade, James, DS at power forward, Noah

The Knicks spent a ton of money over the last ten years. They just spent it very, very poorly. They cannot be accused of being cheap.

Also, I'm not sure you know what "salvaged" means.

The Knicks freaking suck and have since Patrick Ewing retired. They have no talent right now and have shown no propensity to make a smart front office move. The Cavs are one player away from maybe winning a title. The Knicks are about 5 away from even competing for a title.

P.S. Go Lakers. It does not matter where LeBron goes. Kobe is the best player in basketball and the Lakers will be shining their trophies for a couple more years.

You are right about one thing. LJ may be the biggest draw, but Kobe is clearly the better player.

Subtract Anthony Parker for Tony Parker and the Cavs are in the NBA Finals. Mo Williams, Shaq, Jamison, and Varejeo are all still pretty decent players.

You dont sound real informed with what you are talking about. They have sucked because they paid a **** load of money to some ****** players, and it took them a few years to get out from under it

I did not realize that. I guess I just hate all teams from New York (ie Yankees, Giants, Knicks, Jets, Mets, etc.) and don't want LeBron to end up there. The city ofCleveland will be devastated if he leaves. I just hate to see a guy chasing the money and ignoring what he means to that city.

Would you hate that? Let's not act like L.A. teams are some small market who doesnt pay their players

I have no problem with him going to the Lakers. Of course I am biased.

But on a serious note, it would make more sense for LeBron to go somewhere with a history of winning recently versus going to one of the worst teams in the NBA. Kobe had this same opportunity to leave L.A. a few years ago but chose to stay after the Lakers brought in some help. It worked out pretty good for L.A.</p>

You sound ridiculous saying you would hate to see Lebron leave Cleveland for the money unless it was LA> Do you thinbk if Kobe had been in Memphis, or New Orleans he would have stuck around instead of getting a big payday? hell no

Uh that was a joke about LeBron coming to L.A.

What I see is this: The Cavs had the best record in the NBA and are not in the same class as Memphis or New Orleans. Going to Chicago (playoff team) or Miami (playoff team) at least makes sense to a degree. Going to one of the worst teams in the NBA because they give you the most money is ****** of LeBron. Hell it is not like the man is underpaid in Cleveland or isn't getting enough endorsements. If James is all about winning then he will stay in Cleveland or go to Miami or Chicago. If he goes to New York then he is all about the money and not the "greatest player of all time" that he is supposedly on track to be.

or some other max player that they would continue to be a terrible team? really? If he went to Ny he would go because he would get paid, and he would also know the the Knicks would go out and get another star to put with him. Don't let your hate for the city of New York make it impossible for to you to understand that

Mets - baseball
Jets - football
Nets - basketball

and...

Sets - tennis

Sorry for the dumb trivia. They even were around at the same time as each other.

that since the Knicks have sucked, they would get a lottery pick this year- unless they've traded their draft away or something-I don't keep up with the NBA.

If they get LeBron, Bosh, and then some lottery pick that pans out right away, and add a couple of role players or use one or two guys that they have now, I could see them being pretty good pretty soon.

Just having LeBron would probably be enticing enough that some guys would be willing to take a "pay cut" to play with him to get a ring.

My initial question was why would LeBron be better off with the Knicks than with the Cavs. The Cavs only need one more reliable scorer to take the heat off of James and they just won 61 games. The Knicks need all kinds of help and the role players they do have are not even as good as Clevelands. A move to New York would be a step backwards if he wants a title. The Cavs could just as easily sign a good free agent as the Knicks.
Again, a move to Chicago or Miami makes sense because they are already playoff teams with some talented players. He would be putting a shitload of faith in the New York brass in he goes there.

I suspect they will not bring Shaq back. I think Tony Parker is a free agent. He would be a goodfit for the Cavs and he is still only in his late 20's I believe.
