I remember taking my wife's cousin and uncle (who are both huge Memphis state fans/ alumni) because my wife and a few others decided not to go. Probably because we were gathered for thanksgiving and it was raining. After the int I remember them both turning to me and saying "you picked a hell of a first Egg Bowl to bring us too". This was a fun year.
Wasn't this the year that Pig Prather made a fair catch of a punt on the 1-yard line?

I don't know about that. But in this game, after Prather fumbled the punt, with about 3-4minutes to go. ESPN caught him laughing on the sidelines. Hebstriet didn't like that. Also, there was a mass exit of fans too when that happened. SO many people were leaving that luckily, as I stood in the portal waiting, we got the ball back. I said, might as well see what we do with it and stood near in front of a few empty seats next to the portal........and the rest is history.

Amazing that our AD doesn't see that most State fans like these uniforms better than the striped ones.
I stood in the portal waiting in the '98 Arkansas game, thinking we had lost it-the rest is history.
Looking back one thing ole Jackie believed in was some weight on the line. Damn we had some big *** lineman.

That was a fantastic finish to my first semester at State. There were so many fantastic finishes and close calls that year. I've been to the Peach and Independence bowls, I was even there for the Cotton Bowl where Ricky Williams single-handedly smoked us like little maroon blunts. The '99 Egg Bowl tops them all. Absolutely electric atmosphere that night. My dad, brother and I probably got at least three whiskey showers in the fourth quarter alone. And when we took the lead I could swear the entire damn stadium was doing the DPR.
