Why not? Our offense clearly cannot get the job done. Just throw everything we have at them.

.......insertion into the game, it was a great move on Mullen's part. However, he went to the well too many times.

If we lose this one, I don't want to hear Dan calling anyone out but himself... that was horrible call! But, if it would have worked it would have been a great call...

Not moving it. Playing to win. Not to keep it respectable.

I mean, @!+$ you are only down 3 points very much in the game, and you try that? You @!+$ up and you pretty much take yourself out of it which we did.
I just totally disagree, not matter how inept the offense has been. I mean they weren't gonna score on the play anyway. Why not punt it and put FL in poor field position, hope for a defensive play.....yadda yadda

Punt it. The defense was playing great. Tons of time left. That was a terrible call by Mullen. If we were at Florida's 40, I could see it. From our own 23, that is suicide.

I don't care if have gained 0 yds in the game, all it takes is one screw up by Florida a la the end of the first half and you have the lead. That call cost us the game.

A little further down field, it's a good call. You are giving Florida at least 3 if we don't make it.

makes no sense at all.
Just look at how everything, everything went to complete **** in the blink of an eye. Punt, and we might still be in this game. Completely took any wind we had left out of our sails.
This isnt #$$++@+ XBOX 360.

Yeah, I would rather give it to someone else like Bumphis if you're going to try it. Then again, maybe you don't sell the play as well if you put Bumphis in a position where Elliott is normally lining up on a punt.

Rainey had just blocked a punt and had that one blocked too. I didn't like where it was called but if it had worked he would have been a genius.

I first asked why the call, and then thought no why give it to the biggest ****** on the team. Robert Elliot you are creeping up my list of shittiest players ever at MSU.

Agree the defense was playing well and there was potential for a big interception or the like play. But, our anemic offense showed no signs of improving. I have no problems with us trying to swing the momentum with a big play rather than hoping TIM TEBOW would make a mistake. I realize we had two pick-6's against Tebow - that's 17-ing fantastic - but you can't bank on that happening if you expect to beat Florida. At this point in time, beating the number 1 team in the country with, arguably, the greatest college football player of all time on the other sideline, requires ballsy calls. I was expecting the fake and don't question it at all.

I'm not happy and I hate "moral victories". But I will say that I'm excited with the direction we are heading and I'm really pleased with our coaching staff. We are a QB away (no disrespect to Tyson, I admire the little guy) from fielding a very competitive team next year.

to me it looked like we were inviting them to block a punt, which they did. Dont think elliot was the man for the job regardless of field position, and punt probably would have been blocked anyway. Still we are on the right road. GO STATE!

Interesting post-game comments by Meyer, though: "We thought about calling a safe-punt; we have this special thing we do when we call safe, but we didn't do it. We weren't ready for it and he almost got us."

Looks like Meyer thought it was a good call.

Just a bad choice to give it to Elliot - biggest douche on the team right now. All he has to do is stiff-arm the guy and he picks up 2 yards EASY. Instead, he toe-picks instead.

things are looking up but there is a time and a place for that call and inside your own 30, down 3 to the #1 team in the natio in the 4th quarter is not it

!+#% it..lets be serious, we had no chance to win the game anyway, and he plays to win the game. balls to the wall playcalling. such a welcomed change. all our all world 4* recruit had to do was not trip over our turf management team and make one guy miss, and hes down the field..urban meyer didnt get to where he is by punting it from his opponents 30

i dont care that it didnt work. i thought the fake punt was a great call. i agree with most on here, that i would have used a faster guy who has been playing all nite like bumphis.
but nobody mentioned 3 plays later they intercept the ball and the ball is CLEARLY stripped almost a whole yard from the endzone, recovered by us. if that call was made correctly we have the ball with plenty of time at our 20.
im not one for moral victories either. but i would have rather spent the 250$ it costs me to go and drive all day and all nite back only to get 3 hrs of sleep to work all day tomorrow, then to know what i know now and still have missed it. this team came to play. lee was a bit tight early, missed some throws. but if it werent for that bad call late, we have the #1 team on the ropes with a few mins to go. then, who knows!!! i just hope we continue to put forth the effort the rest of the way out. Go State!

try a fake punt so that we can continue to be on offense? unfortunately the only chance we had was the D winning this game. down by 3 and you fake a punt from your own 29 yard line is stupid.

with the way our defense had played up to that point. If you don't get it, you turn the game into a must for a touchdown to tie the game. Punt and hope we can get another big play.

He's kind of a triple threat. Based on his highschool days he could run, pass, or punt. There was one play... don't remember when, but I swore Bumphis was going to pass it. I want to think it was a 3rd down near the endzone, and it appeared Ducre may have been open.

I'm about ready to see him, Relf, & Dixon running some wildcat type plays.
