Maybe Germans, but has anyone heard any talk of who will replace Hud? Whoever it is I trust Mullen to go out and get someone that will fit nicely into our coaching nucleous. I have to say that I believe Miss State currently has the best coaching staff in the country from top to bottom. There are some other big name coaches, but I believe ours is the best. The only improvements I could see would be maybe at the Off Coordinator, Def Backs, and Wide receivers positions. Our Special Teams, Def Coordinator, Off Line, and Def line coaching positions are concrete solid.

One game isn't a good way to judge a guy, but Mirando is by all accounts a hard worker and good coach. If he can do a good job with the WRs, I'd rather see us keep him in place and give more money to Diaz, Balis, and Hevesy. I'm not so wild about Koenig at OC also, but he'll do for now.

and focus on how the receivers were blocking downfield. I think this is probably the clearest evidence of sound coaching you could find.

I am extremely impressed with the way this team has progressed (especially the OL) over 2 years. There were very few breakdowns anywhere on saturday. Very few. We broke down in the secondary twice in the first quarter and then it was over. The OL played lights out. If we can keep the majority of this staff together, I'm as pleased as punch going into next year.

but that's a pretty quick turnaround, from best staff in the country to a staff needing to upgrade in three places.

Since I'm feeling wooly, I'll suggest that maybe we can offer Billy Gonzales (formerly of UF and a Meyer/Mullen guy) who's WR coach at LSU our OC position and let him coach WRs. That said, I doubt we'll make any major waves given the offense's production and the fact that Mullen is calling the shots anyway. That, and we owe big raises to our current staff.

But you have to say that in the past even with the Kang I don't believe we had this strong of a group of coaches overall. JLD was ok, but he had one scheme on defense, and that was blitz 99% of the time. I don't remember who the Off Coordinator was back then. I am not going to even bring up the coaching staff in between the Kang, and Coach M, because I don't think there was a great head coach or assistant on that staff. I would put Diaz and Wilson up against any other Defensive Coordinator in the country. If the Grad assistant was responsible for how the receivers played at the Gator Bowl, then I say give him the job. The receivers were definately outstanding. I don't remember but 1-2 dropped balls, and Shmuley is right the blocking by receivers was great.

I have no hesitation in saying this is the best coaching staff in the history of MSU football. Not even in the best Sherrill years did our team execute, know their assignments and play with the discipline this team played with this year. And it amazes me that even when we plug in younger, more inexperienced guys they actually seem to know what the heck their job is out on the football field.

Come on, man...

It seems no matter who left, Joe Lee justfound or should I say introduced another Dog defender. It's almost as if he lived in a higher realm of knowledge from the rest of us.

we are in a situation unlike any I can remember in my 50+ years of following MSU..whoever, whereever the coach is that DM wants, I think is absolutely the right hire, and look forward to his part of continuing something I wasn't sure I would ever live to see....Coach, I'm behind you 100%..whoever you want, go get them...
