Personally, the portal rankings are all but meaningless.

The pain point is the fit for me.
Huge gravity drawing the defense, willing passer, good size, high volume shooter, seemingly at least average defender.

I think we really could use a top shelf shooter that can get his own a little and such guys are a valuable and limited commodity.

It probably is to you and bunch like you. .
If you can't dribble around a defender and get a shot , you can't be good in the SEC. Butler and oweh were bout the only 2 that could for us. You don't see spot up shooters play for Florida, Auburn, Alabama. Wilkerson wouldn't make it in the sec and I think he knew it

He wasn't always the player he is now. There is no reason to not believe someone currently on this roster can become that player. Lamar was a JUCO player who is described as a player who polished up his game. Well if a JUCO player can do that, there is no reason to think that someone who started with a higher floor can't do the same.

I really don't know enough about the remaining guys to offer up an opinion. However, I will say that it will be hard to find a starter quality player who will be willing to come off the bench. I want someone who understands his assignment and is willing to do it. Someone who isn't looking to consume all of the oxygen.

Going in on Tyson as anything you are depending on is over betting on the suckitude of Davis.

Yes, he is weak but just assuming it is all or even mostly on Hubert considering some guys were decent and even good is too cocky for me.

He could be a fair lick better than he showed at UNCheats and still be ineffective enough to be wasting minutes that are better invested in Noah much less Williams and Chandler.

Kinda my thoughts too. Here's how I look at it . . . two weeks ago I'd never heard of this guy so for that reason alone I'm not gonna get all worked up about it. Then think about the step up Chandler made late in the year and project that forward to a confident Sophomore year . . . is is this guy that I'd never heard of before really gonna be that much better than Colin next year? I see it as a blessing for Colin to come in not next year now.

This is what I believe is an underrated big part of it.

IU has spent very little of a very large NIL pot so far, and they were not going to be outbid.

But also, IU still has an open assistant coach job, and they decided this was the place to use it. Devries flew out to meet Justin Bailey, liked him well enough, and $2 million + Bailey's eventual hire made it happen. If that hire happens, its influence on Wilkerson's decision is more than a rumor. If not? It's just message board fodder.

You will never catch any fish if you don't cast the net. I sure that Lamar and Yates are just two of the players Pope is looking at. It is as critical to get a good fit for the team as getting someone who score. If you get a great scorer but he is selfish, it could negatively impact the other players. A player who states he doesn't want to become just another Kentucky player doesn't sound very much like a team player which could also be the reason Pope didn't pay him what he wanted. Yes, I said pay him what he wanted. I am certain that if Pope offered more money, Lamar would be at UK.

Once Colin got over his jitters and played without fear at the end of the year, he shot over 50%. And he's a better athlete and defender that this guy from what I've seen.

I agree 100% and he didn't come off as likeable whatsoever. Seemed like a guy who would pout if he didn't get a ton of shots per game. Same mentality as Yates and Pierre. They all signed with mediocre programs to be the man and not have any pressure.

Lewis has the same mentality and it showed when Pope loaded up the roster. We don't need a superstar just a good sniper who wants to win and kno2s their role. Those guys are out there.

I knew it was dumb to have him on horses when he visited. We shoulda had the strippers. The green and and the money and gave him a private room and all that. The stuff that goes on most everywhere but people don’t wanna believe lol. Like it was only Louisville. Na. It’s everybody. As in 90% of teams

So you think all of Koby Brea's 93 threes that he made during the season were only catch and shoot? Did you not watch any of the games? Did you not watch him torch Florida and Illinois (and literally 6+ other teams) off the dribble?

Why would you post such a thing? I think he did us a favor by not coming. In his case, I think high volume scorer means a me first type count guy who doesn't work well with a team as talented as UK. We need players who are willing to share court time.

I didn't rule such out, I'd rather have the bird in hand and see what comes out of the bush as we go.

The cream will still rise to the too and may be more likely to as iron sharpens iron.

I'm not crying about it, keep on fishing.

I'm just in the camp that we are best served by continuing the search rather than counting on what may be because it is already in the cupboard.

I want another shooter and if we already have him then the more the merrier or insurance if any falter for any reason.

Keep beating the bushes.
