There have been kids drafted precisely because they played for Kentucky + Calipari, who would not have been drafted if they played at a podunk school.
Sounds like you are saying they got drafted brcause of Calipari. I'll promise you that if a kid has the talent to get an NBA GM to draft him, they could give a damn what name was on the front of his college jersey. Name me one kid that got drafted because of being at UK. Keep in mind a ton of kids get drafted that never make a team but the GM may feel like they could develop. It is not a statement to support Calipari, but he has recruited in past 10 years more high school 5* talent that has skewed the NBA numbers coming out of UK. Those kids would have been drafted if they went to Eastern KY or Western KY, or even Centre College. Look at the 6' 8" kid from LMU, small town south of Middlesboro, KY. He will get drafted when he is a junior. That small town school is as podunk as it gets.

I still think Perry is a elite shooter unlike most of the posters on here give me another power forward
Because what we need is a short, slow, low 30's from three to make this team really special. Signed, Homers Club Against Meritocracy.

I get it and at the end of the day I only want players that want to be at UK.
Never understood this statement when a player chooses another program. When someone doesn’t commit to a program that means they don’t want to be there. And when someone commits, that means they want to be there. Works that way every time. 100% of the time.

It's more of, come here and play for not only minutes and money, but to be apart of something special. Not just "I'm going here to be THE dude." Which is what Wilkerson sounded like. Hope he enjoys the NIT.

There is no world where Reed Sheppard is the number three pick in the draft if he plays at UVA for Tony Bennett.

He would have come to UK in a heartbeat if Pope promised him that he could be the man. He clearly stated that he didn't want to come to UK and just be another player. He wants to be someplace where he can launch as many shots as he can take and for that, I am glad he isn't coming. I want players who are more interested in winning than their scoring.

And leave it to IUsed2Be to celebrate small wins like they won a title. God knows that can't do that anymore.

That was all Calipari and we all knew Reed was not NBA ready. You do know the coaches reputation and his input to the GMs is the difference. Do you think if Sheppard was at UVA with Calipari as the coach that Reed Sheppard would not have had the #3 draft? The name on the jersey means nothing to the NBA. They trust their own scouts and their relationship with college coaches. Now if Calipari had not put a ton of kids in the NBA, I would agree, Sheppard may have been a second round selection.

What a goof. MeManboy had 1 chance to be believed ➡️ joke.

Oh well, greatest tradition vs a has been buried next to Bobby Knight. We need a stud shooter. Wilkerson will rue the day. Good luck in the NIT.

Can't wait to trash him and the Hoosier has beens.

Indiana was desperate if this is true.

Yeah....I don't usually say this about a player going elsewhere, but screw him. Any party that gets an offer and doesn't go to the original offeror (In this case UK) with a "Hey, what's your counter/match?" Never had any intention of coming here. He used us. And for that, I hope he lays an egg up there. Would fit right in with those losers.

It’s funny how IU has already has top 10 portal class, with $$$$ to spend. IU is being deliberate on who they are getting.

in the world of NIL, you rebuild in 1 year. You all did it last year. Did you forget???
Twenty two wins will give IU something to shoot for with their rebuild!

He looked uncomfortable as hell at Keeneland. The stage was too big, and I think that's part of why Pope takes them there.
You know, I always wonder about that move. I am no doubt in the minority- maybe a group of 5%…but I hate Keeneland. To me it’s boring. 2 minutes of racing/15 minutes of waiting for horses to get to the gate for the next race.

But he literally said he didn't want to be here after he committed to IU,, lol..

I've gone there once, and while I enjoyed the scenery and the buzz in the air, I could hardly see anything in the race itself, and I found the rest of it boring. You're not alone. But I appreciate what he's trying to do with the move.

Winning isn't at the top of his list. He is more concerned with indiviual outcome.

And you all had one of the highest amounts of NIL spent last season. How'd that work out for you?

It’s not about the racing, it’s about meeting the money people, looking at the hot girls, and networking for opportunities while discussing role, fit, and hopefully getting a commitment.

Apparently DeVries flew out to see him today and offered his assistant coach at SHS a job at Indiana. That reeks of desperation to me. Good on him for making it happen but that won’t work I. The long term. Can’t offer every prospect a job and Way more money all the time.

That’s ******* embarrassing to have to stoop that low. And Indiana still won’t make the tournament.

Just gross. Money not even enough, but now you gotta stroke the ego of this kid's relatives/contacts? Good riddance.

If guys would just buy in and trust the process everything else would naturally fall into place. Also idk why recruits always buy the “you’ll be the man” sell. There’s no guarantee he’ll be the lead player for IU this year. To me being “the guy” is something that should happen naturally like Oweh this year, nobody expected him to be a significant factor in most of our games this year.
