Harry I was speaking specifically in the CCL Blue not overallThey are the favorites but so was HF last year
Can you elaborate because I am hearing some good things!Rita may shock everyone!
No doubt the Rambles are a great team and very well coached, but never say never. Don't rule anyone outCan you elaborate because I am hearing some good things!
how do you think Rice will be better they went 10-2 last year only conference lost was to LoyolaI believe it's the Ramblers and the rest...SR may be a much better team than they were a year ago, but in the Blue that can still be an 0-4 season. Providence will better, BR is going to be better and MC is MC.

The Junior class at BR is very good, I think all of their opponents are much better. Marist, Crete, and you add Montini. The team is better, not sure if record will be betterhow do you think Rice will be better they went 10-2 last year only conference lost was to Loyola
DOS, you make good points, but I feel that Rita will beat Laurence next year. I know for a fact SR will not be underestimating Laurence.Rita should start out 2-0 but then their next 4 are: PC, Laurence, at MC, at Loyola. Laurence has everyone back and they are getting Rita at the perfect time in that stretch. Winning the PC Blue opener at home week 3 is a must. if they don't win that one, not looking good.
I don't know about the team being better they will depending on alot of kids who didn't play last year . some juniors did play like Smalling, Washington ,Lacey and X in the backfield but their will be a lot off kids who didn't play last year so you don't know what they can do. Especially on Defense and at the Qb position. Hopefully they will get similar production to what Miller did last season. The Junior class at BR is very good, I think all of their opponents are much better. Marist, Crete, and you add Montini. As I said, I am not concerned about Laurence. Rita is going to prevail in that game. However, no one should underestimate any opponent. Not sure who's sandbagging here?I get it that St Laurence is in an ever improving situation but if the Might CCL Blue is concerned about them...oh how the mighty have tumbled...or y'all have been taking notes from Crossbones on sandbagging! By the way Bones if you're still out there lurking...where's the payment on last year's bet?!
Didn't Jwar say he was moving and leaving the website?
I should have known it sounded too good to be true.PJJP,
Yes I am moving, and just spoke with Edgy by phone the other day to thank him for everything he does. I also told him that I will continue to be a paying member of the site because I feel he brings a quality product to all of us schmucks! Sad for you that I will continue to be around remotely and give you a hard time!

Ramblerville trap games . I agree blue is always wide open . But injuries play huge factor in anyone's season. No matter how good a team looks on paper .No doubt the Rambles are a great team and very well coached, but never say never. Don't rule anyone out
I was joking with the above comment. As I've told you many times, you take the posts on this board way too seriously.Ya know I like, respect, and get along with almost everyone from JCA...you not so much! Why do you have to be such an ***?
Very fair assessment. I agree that Rita will not be the great teams in the past, but I feel they will make the playoffs, in addition to defeating Larry.SR started plugging a lot of underclassmen in spots when their season went to crap last year, but this upcoming senior class was very below average as Fr/Soph....so they will have some experience, but don't look for a return to glory this year. BR got a QB that transferred from one of the Lincoln Ways, so as long as they have Smallings to throw too, they'll be OK, but their upcoming Jr. class is not all that great, lot of good Soph though...Warfield will be back and healthy for PC, so expect a rebound...My beloved MC....I haven't been this concerned about an MC team since 2003 when they went 5-4...Good RB in Kennedy, great ATH in Thomas (Jr.) and Griffith (Jr.), Big Linemen with Brown (Jr.), after that, a lot of question marks...expect MC to have a down year and rebound big in 2017. It's LA's to lose.....as for STL, their rebound has been commendable, and Coach Blackman has done a great job, but playing in the Cath White and 5A, I need to see how they hang with the big boys.

Are they still looking at Thomas to run the show? He's a lefty too that I've never been a big of lefty QB's in this type of offense...I know Thompson was a lefty, but my humble opinion I wasn't overly impressed with his 2 year performance as the starter...he had athletic ability and I wish him the best at NIU, something was just off...MC biggest problem last year on all levels was they coughed up the ball more then they normally do in 3 years...very frustrating. I know they know it and will fix it.MC I just wont know until the B/W Scrimmage. Left it last year not feeling very good. I think the O line will be better with Brown and Cooper on the left side. QB needs to be figured out. Defense I am liking Taylor as an impact junior and Barbosa a soph at Nose is what I am hearing. Question mark at ILB. Definitely a lot of juniors starting
Dan Obrien was a lefty in 02 and had a spectacular year. Something like 22 TDs and 2 Ints. I believe the 02 team is their 2nd highest scoring team ever. Also played a perfect game vs Com in Quarters in the 28-21 win. Thomas is in the mix for QB. Obviously will be on the road a ton with baseball in the summer. I am hearing Trudeau in the mix as well. Are they still looking at Thomas to run the show? Last year had a returning OL transfer so the O line was in flux all year. More settled and bigger already heading into the year. Also as year went on Kennedy and Thomas got on field more then the other backs.Dan Obrien was a lefty in 02 and had a spectacular year. Something like 22 TDs and 2 Ints. Ironically, beating JC in 01 really screwed MC. They were locked into Mulchrone. That game was all Owens though . MC only completed 2 passes the whole game. 1 of those SHOULD have been a pick 6 but somehow Goffer got it and scored.O'B was a beast, if he started in 2001 that team could have gone all the way...glad he is back coaching at MC too. Styka was a SO. LB last year who got some time...look for MC in 2017, this year may be rough, but they surprised me many times before.

Harold Blackmon.
Laurence with everyone back is a favorite over a 3-6 Rita. Rita has 1 Blue win the last 2 seasons.
MC just had 220 kids take the test...not sure how many will attend in August, but they had a great test and a lot of great players from the South Side Catholic Schools. Yes MC and SR have seen a dip in overall enrollment, while BR and Marist have been climbing, but they are both still very strong schools/programs and I don't think they are in any danger....as far as Football participation, MC had over 70 kids playing on the Freshman and Varsity teams last season, that's more then BR and Marist had on their rosters. Like Dean said, Frank isn't going anywhere for awhile, but one extremely bar stool rumor I heard, so no real weight to this at all....depending on how long he plays in Canada/professionally...I heard Jordan Lynch may be a name tossed around...an alum, a big name to draw kids in, knows the offense...rumor of course, but an interesting one.Wonder if he goes to MC when Frank finally hangs them up? Not sure I'd wish that job on him though, as it seems like an almost impossible situation for him. You are following the greatest coach ever, and I have to think declining enrollment and declining football participation (both of which are huge problems for SR as well) finally catches up with MC once Frank retires.
