What they should do is nothing. He’s been given two raises & extensions already. If VT is insane enough to offer him 9 mil/year then good for him, go be a Hookie again.
But I’m not sure the admin learns from anything regardless of who the AD & coaches are so if this situation arises (I say it won’t) then they will throw more money at him.

This year obviously is looking to be a downer. Up and down, up and down, seems to be the trend under Beamer. I would think that the administration would expect consistently good seasons from the Head Football Coach.
I like Beamer and I'd like him to stick around, but under no circumstances would I get into a bidding war to keep him, certainly not the way this year is playing out.
That's why I asked what leverage.
Plus, I think he genuinely is where he wants to be. If he would just hire a real OC, he would go down as a USC legend.
If I was the AD and Beamer came and asked for a raise I’d say “why do you deserve one?” And that would end the conversation
Don't know him or his circumstances on a personal level, so I can't comment with any certainty to his motivations.But probably will in Beamer’s case.
The odds of a school such as VA Tech offering Beamer a $6.5+ million a year contact and also paying for to get him out of the USC contract is close to zero.

Of course this is where he wants to be. Where else would a coach as inconsistent as Beamer has been get multiple raises and extensions?

Where is the inconsistency? Looks consistently mediocre to me until you factor in SoS.
Outside of Steve Spurriers 3 11-2 seasons, what has Beamer done that isn't on par with the best coaches we have ever had?
However, this season isn't looking very good, but we will have to wait and see.
I guess I look at 7 wins, 8 wins, 5 wins, 9 wins. SEC record is pretty consistent though.
I don't see the justification for raises and extensions like he has gotten. No one is trying to hire him away.
