The problem for the Republicans isn't that they are spineless. It is that the Democrats know the Republicans are spineless.
That is sadly undeniable. Every time this stuff comes up, the Repubs find an excuse to give in and the Dems know that they will never be challenged to the point of submission.

Newt got that yellow streak down his back and he gave in - never to be taken seriously again. Ever confrontation since, the Repubs back down after a little bit of tough talk and run with their tails between their legs. Therefore, the libs seem to be in control of the two parties who are now just two shades of liberal. If they don't start standing firm, and let unnecessary departments shut down, they are going to get asses booted any way in next round for lying about what they were going to do when campaigning. Hopefully, their downfall will be in primaries instead of generals.

The problem is that they don't have the votes to do what they want and if the rules don't work then lets just burn the whole thing down. Yo

No, the Dems know that if you shut down the Government that the American people don't like that and will hold the GOP responsible. The sane people in the GOP know a Government shutdown would not be the best way to go into a 2016 election year. Planned Parenthood gonna be the sword your party falls on this time?

They definitely have 51 votes, McConnell doesn't have the backbone, or he is not as crazy a Harry Reid.

They need two-thirds to override a veto. Dumbass.

You're getting really really good at this.
They don't actually have tails, and therefore can't run with their tails between their legs. For that matter, they most likely don't run at all, sans tail or not. But you still correctly used a figure of speech to convey a characterization of their actions.

Somehow, nobody has called you a liar for claiming the Republicans have tails.

McConnell has already said it would be an exercise in futility but his base don't want to hear it. You can't govern without compromising some.
Actually, compromise doesn't mean do it my way and we can get a long. Where have Dems compromised, really, in the past 7 years? May even want to look at last two years of GWB.

The house and senate both vote on the budget

"There is no obligation for either or both houses of Congress to pass a budget resolution. There may not be a resolution every year; if none is established, the previous year's resolution remains in force. "

Surprise, they constitute the third leg of our government and have equally one third of the decision making of this government. For the past 6 years, the legislative branch has become a bit lazy and allowed the Exec branch to assume control. Pretty much what we have been discussing today, the legislative is too cowardly to take their equal part back from exec branch.

WTF are you even talking about? You said it takes 51 votes to pass a budget, I showed information indicating that budgets go through both the house and senate and you go on about the legislative branch being lazy ... WTF does that have to do with who votes on a budget and how many votes it takes?

So are you denying that the house voted to defund PP? That's all the DailyKos article is talking about, and again, it is in your response that it only takes 51 votes to pass a budget, as if the house doesn't have anything to do with it.

You have no idea what you're talking about, somebody shows that you have no idea what you're talking about and you go off on a rant regarding the source of information.

What was it that you were saying about me yesterday? Calling me liar and stupid and attacking me and my character by claiming I don't ever admit being wrong?

And what exactly is it that you're doing right now?

So, that leaves me with one last question ... Do you have any mirrors in your house?

You goofy bastard. House is pretty secure they only need simple majority. Senate rules require 60 votes on most all legislation. Mitch can win with simple majority of 51 if he declares nuclear option(Trent Lott title). Senate gets blocked because the Repubs only have 56 or 58 seats and cannot break the filibuster. Education time and glad to share the knowledge?

It takes two-thirds vote, from both the House and Senate, to override the President's veto. The numbers I shared in this thread were from the House vote. I'm finished educating you for the day.

What is simple majority, you ridiculous idiot? Hint: it's more than 51
You actually not this stupid - perhaps. Congress is made up of two houses. The House of Reps has 435 seats. The majority is 50% + 1vote. Pay attention now, this is where you are getting lost. The other, or 2nd, house is that of the Senate with 100 members, thus the majority is 51. See how easy that is when you put your thinking cap on?

It is actually the Democrats who don't have the votes for what they want. They haven't had to compromise and aren't about to start now. They will get what they want and make the Republicans look like ******** in the process...

Funny, it was like that when the GOP was in the minority, too except that when they didn't have the votes to get what they wanted, but wouldn't compromise, they made themselves look like ******** with no help from the Democrats.

Either way, whether they are in power or not, the Republicans lose and look like ********. The Democrats are way smarter, politically...

Theyve shut it down before. Why not. Funny reading the libtards rewrite history.
Yeah right. Every time the government has been shut down has been when the GOP had control of Congress. But the "libtards" are the ones rewriting history. Kool-Aid Kool-Aid, tastes great! [roll]

Why was the government shut down? Did it have anything to do with attempting to slow down run-away spending? Or was it some other stupid **** that Dems was trying to thrust upon the country?

It doesnt matter why it was shut down. Blaming it on one side or the other is ridiculous because if the government cant work together to keep open its both sides fault

It was shut down over the ACA. You know, that act they've voted on 50 some times trying to overturn? Now it's going to be Planned Parenthood. Repubs (some of them) in DC are idiots. You already have some of them like McCain, McConnel and Beohner trying to tell them not to do it, they'll end up with another black eye.

Al of the spin off businesses do, dumbass.
Not to mention the people who depend on the government to get things done. Then there are people who have planned visits to National Parks, museums, monuments, etc., and can't get in. Remember that ******* from Texas getting in the face of the ranger at the World War II memorial who had to stand there and turn people away, telling her she should be ashamed for doing her job?
