After years of reading this board and never posting...this is ashame that this had to be my first post. The fact that 3 days after the Egg Bowl, there are threads on here talking of potential head coaching replacements is a bit delirious. Let's enjoy the season, enjoy the bowl bid we will receive this weekend, and enjoy the fact the most of the recruits in the state are going to STATE. Quit freaking out over Mullen to Miami, Mullen to Minnesota, Mullen to Colorado. Dont spoil a good thing with pure speculation and damn message board rumors. Enjoy the time we have and rest assured, Stricklin will and is doing all he can to make sure Mullen stays for a while. Think about it: 1. Eight wins in his second season (possibly nine) 2. A great recruiting class his first year and this year, not to mention a pretty good one last year. 3. The probability of a new football only complex and stadium expansion and renovation in roughly 3 years. 4. Great fan attendance and support (see the last two years in ticket sales). 5. Great support from the administration. 6.Our facilities are good. 7.We play in the best conference in the land (SEC for those of you who didnt know).
I'm not saying you can't speculate over the potential of him leaving, but please calm the 17 down and give us a little credit and respect. We dont have to be a stepping stone, and I think with all the possibilities in the Program and talent in this state, along with the support we've given as a fan base...Mullen will stay put for a while. Now, that is not to say forever, or not to say that if Penn State or Notre Dame come calling...that he will turn them down. But that's not happening, at least not this year. So enjoy the good times and the fact that people around the country actually are taking notice of MISSISSIPPI STATE, and maybe for once, ESPN and every other media syndicate can get our name right now. Enjoy it, don't ruin the good times.
