Not that maybe he should be there opening day but he won't because of teams efforts to manipulate service time.

My understanding is the Pirates can send him down for 16 days then call him up and they will have him for 7 years instead of 6.

The caveat to that is under the CBA if he finishes in the top 2 for ROTY he would be awarded a full year of service regardless when they called him up.

Knowing this I can’t see the pirates bringing him up for the first could of weeks of the season. This kid is special though. Best player Mississippi has produced since when?

If you got a kid and you're worried he might win ROTY and get that year back anyway, you put him on your roster.

They did the same thing with Skenes. He won ROTY so they lost the year and didn't get a compensatory pick either.

Reid Cornelius???

Reid wasn't a Mississippian. . . . .He was from Thomasville, AL. . . . .He committed to the diamond dogs but was given the highest signing bonus of any HS player ever up to that time when he was drafted in '88. . . . .Just think if he had played on that '89 MSU team (what some considered the best MSU ever). . . . .
