The word is that UGA is after Kirby Smart (Bama's DC) really hard to fill their opening since canning Martinez. Smart is a UGA grad and I hear that they are throwing some serious coin at him. Given the well-known fact that Saban burns through assistants pretty quickly, this will be something to keep an eye on. The DC coaching carousel is not over just yet.

smart could go to georgia. he was an all conference db there in the 90's and lived in georgia for most of his life even though he was born in alabama. the only thing about smart and how saban runs through assistants is that saban has brought him along every step of the way. saban hired him at lsu, then at miami, and now at bama. its pretty obvious that they get along pretty well.
i think smart will be a head coach within three to four years so i am also not sure if a move to uga would ultimately benefit him in any way as it relates to reaching the ultimate goal of becoming a head coach.
but with all that said, he might love uga so much that he just wants to move back to athens. lord knows its a great place and puts most college towns to shame. his wife also played basketball there so you know she would love to move back.
