Will the Huskers rally or fold?

I am really hoping that the Huskers rally around TJ and get a win Saurday.
I think TJ's mobility will help the running game for us, he can keep D's honest when they key on EJ.

Dana wins or loses this game. UCLA has essentially zero film on our QB and has had to watch his high school tapes. TJ is shifty, at least a decent thrower, but extremely likely he throws for 200yds or less and maybe one or two passing TDs (200yds 2 TDs would be an incredible first start for a true freshman on the road.) Dana needs to develop a scheme that UCLA can't easily predict, he needs to get Emmett the ball, and he needs to make TJ feel comfortable by scheming WRs wide open. This one's so winnable. UCLA will come out focused, but everyone on our team knows exactly what they need to do to win and it's not even that difficult of a task (just contain Nico and their offense is done, effectively run the ball on a BAD rushing defense to set up wide open pass plays)

I doubt we truly fold. In general, under Rhule, our players continue to fight and play hard even when things haven’t been going our way. There are a few exceptions like Minnesota this year and Indiana last year, but overall I think that’s true.

Can TJ’s eyes blink enough to see what the defense is doing. Can the linebackers stay gap sound. They will spy TJ until him arm beats them.

Agree. Seems like in other places, true frosh QB's are set up for success. Hoping they give him plenty of plays and opportunities.

they outgained us with their 3rd or 4th string QB

we scored a garbage time TD to make it look closer than it was (as we are always wont to do)
The QB that started all year for them? and outgained by 30 yards.

We had a chance to tie until HH threw a pick in their territory..

Again I think we have different definitions of getting the breaks beat off by someone

I think the first thing to watch in Saturday's game is if Nebraska can score on the first possession of the game. Dana has been successful this season on the opening drive. The thing we don't want is to fall behind by 10+ points and have to play catch up like we did against Michigan.

Yea, where they lost by 7 and were driving to tie it up until HH threw a pick?
I watched the game, never thought we would win the game by the way we came to play
that should have been an easy win but another **** down your leg moment by the huskers at home

"Beating the brakes off someone" is an idiom for winning a contest so decisively and dominantly that the opponent is completely outmatched. It is a colorful expression for defeating someone overwhelmingly, implying that the victory was not even close. The phrase is often used in a post-game or post-fight interview to describe a performance of extreme superiority.

Nebraska was overwhelmingly expected to beat UCLA last year and comfortably. The actual outcome was shockingly different. This was the game that Rhule picked up an offensive call sheet on the sideline, and directly led to Dana being brought in immediately.

UCLA is 101st in Total Offense, 61st in Rushing O, 109th in Passing O, 115th in Scoring O, 79th in Total D, 125th in Rushing D, 23rd in Pass D, 87th in Pass Efficiency D, 134th (dead Last) in 3rd Down D, 76th in 1st Down D. 113th in Scoring D.

Even if TJ flubs it up, we very well should still win it. I could see EJ having a 200 yard game in this one. Their O is nowhere near the level of SC's and the Blackshirts pretty much handled them shutting down the numbers 1 Passing and Total Offenses in the nation. They're gonna have a field day and we won't have many problems moving the ball on them as well.

The only very real thing that could affect this team if it does imo, is us being banged up after playing 6 weeks straight as well as the jet lag and it being a late game on the road in a stadium where we haven't won at in 30 years. If all cards are played right, there is a very real possibility although a slight one we could blow them out but probably won't. These guys ain't good at all.

Here's one for you guys, through 9 games we've held every team to under 400 yards of total offense. The last time that was done, was the 09 squad. This D isn't as bad as people in this fanbase think they are. We're 13th in total D and that's even with a maligned and undersized DL. Far and away better than White's D while here.

I wrote this dat after the USC game...

Our oline is a joke..I said it last night. The difference between Emmitt Johnson and USC running backs.

Johnson's were all tiny holes with great vision and effort. All the runs from USC were designed plays that were executed perfectly and the RB just needed to hit the gap that was opened for them.

Our line or our play designs are absolute dog ****..

basically EJ creates his own yards, and it doesn't matter who we are playing we do not execute plays

Had Dylan not gone down, imo Emmett has over 200 rushing. With Dylan in there, SC's D was so off balance it wasn't even funny. What I think that's funny, is SC's favorite running play the Counter Tray was an Osborne/Solich creation that many schools and NFL teams snagged and still use to this day and would love to see us run it again. They burned us with it the first half, but adjustments were made at halftime and we took it away from them as they had very little success running it after that. Hell they had to resort to a trick play just to move the ball downfield. Take that 49 yard play away and they finish with only 86 yards passing. What's impressive, we held the nations number 1 passing offense without a TD through the air.

Lateef is one of the nation’s top signal callers and has been on our radar since he was just a freshman. He has a really nice all around game to him and brings a lot to an offense. He’s a pocket passer with dual-threat ability. He can sit back and make every throw you want from the pocket and has excellent mobility as well. He can make defenders miss and does a nice job extending plays and making something happen outside the pocket. You can run zone read with him and his ability to be an athlete from the pocket adds a lot of dimensions to an offense. As a thrower, Lateef has made some nice strides over the last year. We actually thought he had the best day of any quarterback at the Elite 11 Regional Camp in Los Angels back in March. His arm was live, his release looked tighter and he was accurate to all three levels of the field. He’s a tough kid and a gamer who we’ve seen take some big shots but never flinch in the pocket. He has also shown a clutch gene and has multiple 4th quarter game winning drives on his resume. His game is trending in the right direction and he should make another nice jump when he gets to college.

What I’m worried about is that UCLA goes against a “mobile” qb in practice during the week. I know there’s more to TJ than his wheels, but what does DH draw up for him tomorrow? Does he trust him enough to make some quick passes/screen passes, or does he turn him loose and let him air it out 10 plus yards downfield?
Still, it is exciting what this offense can become these next 3 games!!

I understand the challenges. Even so, losing to a team that fired its HC early on in an empty away stadium would be very sad.

TJ, EJ, Holgersen, and the WRs/TEs need to step up.

We know the OL sucks. Deal with it and score some damn points!
